Hello, friends of The Pub!
Today I want to share a look behind the curtain at one of our passion projects with Familia AlfaSueños: the intense and rewarding experience of an independent film set.
Making audiovisual content independently is always a wild journey full of creativity, problem-solving, and pure teamwork. When you don't have massive studio budgets or giant crews, every single team member wears multiple hats to make the magic happen on screen. As you can see in these photos, creating a realistic indoor scene—like a tense dinner sequence—requires attention to every detail. Before rolling the camera, we had to carefully arrange the lighting, adjust character makeup right on set, and position the audio equipment properly so every line of dialogue sounded crisp.
We even had our camera operator climbing up a ladder to capture a high-angle shot! That’s the true spirit of indie filmmaking: doing whatever it takes, safely and creatively, to get the frame you envisioned.
One of the best parts of working on set is the atmosphere. From clapping the slate before each take to sharing laughs between setup changes, the energy on set keeps everyone motivated during long hours of production. In the end, taking that final cast and crew photo makes all the effort completely worth it.We love using storytelling and audiovisual media to connect with audiences, inspire youth, and keep building cultural value in our community.
Film and theater share that same core: bringing stories to life through human connection and dedication.
Have you ever been part of a film shoot or a theater production? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments!
