When we think about dramatic art and storytelling, there is a natural tendency to focus all attention on the actors and their characters. However, through our creative journey as the AlfaSueños Family, we have learned that the magic of independent theater and filmmaking begins much deeper: on the stage itself.
Designing a set is not just about painting a pretty background or placing random props. For us, building a stage means giving the story its own heart and living space. Every cardboard tree, hand-crafted sun, small white fence, and lighting scheme acts as a silent accomplice, helping transport the audience into the universe we wish to share.
When the stage comes alive, the characters gain a whole new layer of energy. Costumes, makeup, and scenery work in total harmony to turn a simple wooden platform into a dream realm. Seeing the reaction of the audience—especially the little ones—reminds us why we love this craft so much: the joy of turning simple materials into pure magic through passion and teamwork.
