CLOSED Pinky & Spiky Are Awake — Revival Comic Contest

Hello creative community and friends. Happy weekend despite the rainy weather here in the Philippines.

I’ve been feeling a little nostalgic about Hive lately, and especially about the things I used to enjoy here.

One of the things I missed the most was joining the Pinky and Spiky comics-making contests that were hosted back then by the original creators, @organduo and @laputis. Those cute little characters were such a fun part of our community, and I always loved seeing everyone’s different comic ideas even from the early days of the previous forked platform.

About two weeks ago, I decided to revisit my old Pinky and Spiky drawings. I dusted them off, gave them a little update, and brought them back to life. I could no longer find my favorite copic brush I guess they got discontinued so I tried my best searching and the marker brushes are the closest.

Then earlier today, something really special happened: I saw @organduo posting his Pinky and Spiky comics again after being away from the platform for such a long time. I thought I was just dreaming but the post is current Yay.

In his post, he said something that really stuck with me:

Pinky and Spiky never left. They were just sleeping.

That gave me the idea for this contest.

Seeing the OG back on Hive made me genuinely happy, and it inspired me to revive the Pinky & Spiky comics contest for the Draw A Day community.

THE THEME

Pinky & Spiky Waking Up From Deep Slumber

That’s it.

Take Pinky and Spiky waking up from their long, deep sleep and turn it into your own comic. One panel or more it's up to you. It can be funny, wholesome, dramatic, deadpan or completely unexpected.

I want to see what you creative people come up with.

HOW TO JOIN

1. Create a Pinky & Spiky comic based on the theme.
2. Post your entry in the Draw A Day community.
3. Include “Pinky & Spiky Revival Contest” somewhere in your post title or description.
4. Share your own original comic — traditional drawing, digital art, or any style is welcome.
5. Make sure your post clearly shows your interpretation of Pinky and Spiky waking up from their deep slumber.
6. Anyone can join

I’ll be judging mainly on creativity, storytelling, humor, and how much fun your comic is to look at. You don't need to be an expert artist. I want to see your ideas and your own style.

Pinky and Spiky have apparently been sleeping for a very, very long time.

Now it's time to wake them up.

I hope this little revival brings back some of the fun and nostalgia of the old contests while giving new members a chance to create their own Pinky & Spiky memories.
