After storing my Tri-Cruiser, I reached the DHV Magellan to meet Charlie, a representative for Drawbridge. He introduced a Chiralgram of President Duncan from APAC, who tasked Sam with linking Australia to the Chiral Network. After catching a brief vision of his sister, Sam agreed to take on the mission.
Fragile appeared out of the tar in Chiralgram form to inform me that their patron wished to speak with Sam now that we had both arrived. My private room had evidently traveled alongside me, and my immediate goal was to reach the bridge of the DHV Magellan.
Determined not to leave my Tri-Cruiser behind, I rode the vehicle directly through the interior of the ship toward the garage.
After safely storing the Tri-Cruiser below, I took the elevator straight up to the bridge, which served as the ship's main cockpit.
Fragile thanked Sam upon his arrival and stated that she wanted him to meet someone. A robotic entity introduced himself as Charlie, explaining that he served as the patron for Drawbridge.
Charlie revealed that Drawbridge had been chosen to oversee a critical operation to bring Australia into the Chiral Network. He explained that people had witnessed Sam's accomplishments in Mexico and wanted him to repeat that success.
When Sam pressed him about his identity, Charlie assured him that while he could not reveal who he was, he was neither an enemy nor associated with APAC.
Sam questioned why he should trust a faceless machine, to which Charlie explained that he was funding the entire ship and operation at immense personal risk.
Sam demanded to see a real face before agreeing to any deal. Charlie suggested that Sam pick an old comrade whose face and voice he could borrow for the conversation. I initially selected Deadman, hoping for a familiar reunion, and Charlie adopted his visage and voice.
However, Charlie quickly noted that Deadman had taken a one-way trip to the beach, rendering him unavailable for the role. I then tried selecting Lockne, but Charlie explained that she was also unavailable due to her ka remaining tied Mama.
When presented with the remaining options of Heartman or Die-Hardman, I selected Heartman, only for Charlie to reveal that the man himself would be joining the crew on-site in Australia.
That left Die-Hardman as the sole available profile in the database. Charlie pulled up the data and declared it was time for Sam to meet someone special, presenting a Chiralgram of the individual who took over leadership after Die-Hardman.
Charlie clarified that the UCA no longer operated under a presidential system, making Die-Hardman the first and final president in a short-lived administration. Instead, this figure served as the president of APAC, an Automated Private Assistance Company tasked with handling day-to-day governance.
The Chiralgram manifested as His Excellency Duncan, who expressed deep gratitude for Sam's past efforts in Mexico. President Duncan voiced his firm belief that only those who built the original network at home could successfully expand it into Australia.
He noted that while the network utilized UCA technology, the UCA held no involvement in this project, as APAC was a private entity making the final decisions.
They believed a new Gate would materialize within Australia once full connectivity was achieved, bringing them one step closer to reclaiming a free Death Stranding world.
Charlie reassured Sam that the entire crew stood ready to support him, emphasizing that he would not have to travel alone this time. As Charlie spoke, Sam caught a sudden vision of his sister.
Fragile asked if Sam intended to take the job. Without looking back, Sam walked forward and remarked that he had done it before, noting it seemed to be the only thing he was good at anyway.
He left the bridge and returned to the private room to rest, while Fragile advised accessing the delivery terminal whenever he felt ready to proceed.
