Seriously, can a cat live 7 lives? Well, depending on the region where the legend comes from, it could be 9.
For Puss in Boots The last witch, that moment has arrived. The second installment of the series dedicated to this beloved Shrek character sets as its main plot the possibility that the Cat might kick the bucket.
A life full of adventures and risks has led him to this point. Therefore, in this film, our Hispanic-rooted cat decides to retire, hoping that death will take longer to find him.
Of course, when you live surrounded by problems, even if you step aside, the problems come looking for you. And as always, there’s a journey to embark on, with the goal of finding or saving something very valuable.
It’s a children’s movie, but as I always say, adults enjoy it even more. The parodies and references in Shrek’s cinematic world are a must, and in this Puss in Boots installment, there was no exception.
The introduction of the character Perrito was spot on. He was one of the most liked, since the writers gave him the ability to remain good despite going through humiliating situations in life, and above all, to use philosophical threads to justify his own misfortune. I found that very charming and endearing.
There are other interesting aspects in the film, such as the adaptation of several classic fairy tale characters into Shrek’s unique world. This isn’t new, but the way they do it is always original. An example is Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They ended up adopting her and turning her into one of the family, whether at home, in the den, or wherever they lived.
Finally, let’s talk about the character of Death. Death is represented as a wolf with impressive fighting skills. Once again, a great choice, because who else but a wolf—nature’s predator with so many hunting and killing abilities? It actually reminded me of my reading of White Fang, where Jack London described him as a skillful killer, very intelligent, and extremely lethal.
That’s how my review ends.
If you’ve seen it, let me know if you agree with me. If not, well, what are you waiting for?
