Este es el mes de mi cumpleaños, y aunque suene un poco romántico (o dramático, según cómo lo quieran ver), siempre siento que es un mes especial. Es un mes en el que suspiro más de lo normal, reflexiono, me pongo nostálgica… y, por supuesto, leo historias que me hagan sentir.
Hello dear Hive community, I hope you are all doing well. 💗 As always, it is a pleasure to come to this space to talk about what brings us together: books. This is my birthday month, and although it may sound a little romantic (or dramatic, depending on how you look at it), I always feel like it's a special month. It's a month when I sigh more than usual, reflect, get nostalgic... and, of course, read stories that make me feel.
Por eso hoy quiero hablarles de esos libros que me han hecho suspirar, que me han hecho creer —aunque sea por un momento— en el amor en sus versiones más intensas, dolorosas y mágicas.
That's why today I want to talk to you about those books that have made me sigh, that have made me believe—even if only for a moment—in love in its most intense, painful, and magical forms.
3. El príncipe cruel/The cruel prince
Esta trilogía de fantasía escrita por Holly Black es una de mis favoritas cuando pienso en un verdadero enemies to lovers. Y cuando digo verdadero, lo digo en serio: aquí no es un simple “me caes mal pero en realidad me gustas”. Aquí hay odio, humillación, orgullo, poder y ambición.
This fantasy trilogy written by Holly Black is one of my favorites when I think of a true enemies to lovers story. And when I say true, I mean it: this isn't just a simple “I hate you, but I actually like you.” Here, there is hatred, humiliation, pride, power, and ambition.
La relación entre Jude y Cardan está lejos de ser dulce al inicio. Está llena de tensión, rivalidad y juegos de poder. Pero justamente por eso me gusta tanto. El desarrollo es lento, complejo y lleno de matices. No es un amor perfecto ni idealizado, es un amor que nace en medio del conflicto y que evoluciona con los personajes.
The relationship between Jude and Cardan is far from sweet at the beginning. It is full of tension, rivalry, and power games. But that is precisely why I like it so much. The development is slow, complex, and full of nuances. It is not a perfect or idealized love; it is a love that is born in the midst of conflict and evolves with the characters.
Me encanta cómo Jude no pierde su fuerza por enamorarse, y cómo Cardan, detrás de su crueldad, esconde vulnerabilidad. Su historia me hace feliz porque se siente genuina dentro del mundo en el que viven: oscuro, político y peligroso. Es un romance que no suaviza a sus personajes, sino que los transforma.
I love how Jude doesn't lose her strength by falling in love, and how Cardan, behind his cruelty, hides vulnerability. Their story makes me happy because it feels genuine within the world they live in: dark, political, and dangerous. It's a romance that doesn't soften its characters, but transforms them.
2. La canción de Aquiles/The Song of Achilles
Escrito por Madeline Miller, este es uno de los Boys Love más hermosos que he leído. La prosa es delicada, poética y profundamente emocional. La historia de Patroclo y Aquiles me marcó de una manera que todavía me cuesta explicar sin que me duela un poquito el pecho.
Written by Madeline Miller, this is one of the most beautiful Boys Love stories I have ever read. The prose is delicate, poetic, and deeply emotional. The story of Patroclus and Achilles affected me in a way that I still find difficult to explain without feeling a slight ache in my chest.

Esta trilogía de Stephanie Garber la adoré completamente. Desde el inicio me atrapó su atmósfera mágica, sus maldiciones, los pactos y ese aire de cuento de hadas oscuro.
I absolutely loved this trilogy by Stephanie Garber. From the very beginning, I was captivated by its magical atmosphere, its curses, the pacts, and that dark fairy tale feel.
Al principio, Jack no me gustaba. Me parecía frío, manipulador y egoísta. Pero a medida que avanzaba la historia, fui entendiendo sus motivaciones. Y cuando vemos hasta dónde es capaz de llegar por Evangeline… simplemente suspiré. At first, I didn't like Jack. He seemed cold, manipulative, and selfish to me. But as the story progressed, I began to understand his motivations. There is something deeply romantic about someone who is willing to sacrifice everything—even their own heart—for the person they love.
Puede que su manera de amar sea un poco extraña, intensa y hasta caótica, pero también es leal y apasionada. Y a mí ese tipo de amor literario me puede.
Her way of loving may be a little strange, intense, and even chaotic, but she is also loyal and passionate. And that kind of literary love gets to me.
Estos libros, de una u otra forma, me recuerdan al amor. No a un amor perfecto, sino a uno que duele, que transforma, que exige valentía. Un amor que no siempre es fácil, pero que deja marca.
These books, in one way or another, remind me of love. Not perfect love, but love that hurts, that transforms, that demands courage. Love that isn't always easy, but leaves its mark.
Quizás por eso los releo en este mes. Porque cumplir años también es recordar quién eres, qué sientes y qué historias te han cambiado. Y si algo tengo claro, es que las historias de amor —sobre todo esas que empiezan mal, que parecen imposibles o que están destinadas a romperte el corazón— son las que más me hacen suspirar.
Perhaps that's why I'm rereading them this month. Because having a birthday is also about remembering who you are, what you feel, and what stories have changed you. And if there's one thing I know for sure, it's that love stories—especially those that start badly, seem impossible, or are destined to break your heart—are the ones that make me sigh the most.
