Still Here, Still Routing for Hive, Still Building Up my HP

It’s been several months since my last post.

They’ve been busy months, during which I’ve had plenty to do and little time to write anything here on Hive.

Actually, the situation isn’t much different at the moment – and I doubt it will change any time soon – but today I had a bit of free time and thought: why not?

Also because, even though I haven’t been writing posts, I’ve carried on reading other users’ posts, giving upvotes and leaving a few comments, as well as accumulating HIVE/HP, so my absence from Hive has really only been limited to one aspect, whilst in every other respect I was still here, albeit perhaps in a less visible way.

Naturally, posting less has meant a slowdown in the growth of my HP, which is now approaching 26k, but it’s certainly far less than what I could have had if I’d carried on posting… but posting just to gain HP isn’t ‘healthy’ for Hive’s growth, so honestly I’m glad I didn’t write anything when I felt I had nothing to say.

Not only that: I admit that seeing so many users leave Hive has discouraged me quite a bit.

A large part of my interactions were with users who stopped interacting before I did, leading me to feel less and less like writing myself: writing knowing that nobody will read what you’ve written is depressing, far more so than receiving upvotes of little value.

Speaking of ‘value’

Because how can one talk about Hive without – unfortunately – always giving a thought to its current rock-bottom value?

It’s hardly even worth mentioning anymore, and it’s almost become the norm to see HIVE at 5 cents (or less).

When I think back to when 30 cents seemed like a small amount to me… well, I don’t know whether to laugh it off or not!

The positive thing, though, is that I can now ignore the whole ‘value’ issue: we’ve sunk so low that at this point, whether it’s 4 cents, 5, 8, 11 or 2, what difference does it make? None to me, so in a way I feel freer.

Increasing my HP is now almost like a game – a game I enjoy, which I play with a light heart, knowing that I’m increasing my impact on a chain that, for me, remains one of the best and most unique in the world.

There’s also another thing

HIVE’s low value has led many users to drift away and power down.

Among them were many who professed a great love for Hive and who, for this reason, had received so many upvotes and so much support.

Perhaps this phase may have helped some of those who had supported them over time to learn better how to distinguish between those who ‘say’ they want what’s best for Hive and those who actually ‘do’ what’s best for Hive.

And perhaps this is giving rise to a slightly greater focus on curating content on this platform, whilst trying to better assess who is being upvoted: someone who speaks in fine words but walks away at the first sign of difficulty, or someone who truly believes in Hive and is willing to stay even when almost no one else does?

Ciao Arc7, È sicuro che ha grande importanza la diminuzione delle interazioni tra gli utenti. Una piattaforma Social può avere una buona tecnologia, ma se diminuiscono persone, commenti e conversazioni diventa inevitabilmente meno stimolante produrre nuovi contenuti. Purtroppo il senso di svuotamento della piattaforma ce l’ho anch’io. Il basso valore di HIVE è sicuramente scoraggiante, ma forse lo è ancora di più dedicare tempo a scrivere qualcosa e avere la sensazione che quasi nessuno lo leggerà. Io continuo a fare post ed a interagire perchè mi piace molto, intanto spero che il prezzo di HIVE si riprenda

Come te io sono sempre qui a leggere più che a scrivere, operazione da cui manco da più tempo di te.

Condivido che molta gente si è demoralizzata, ma penso che Hive abbia davvero qualcosa in più sebbene sono sempre più convinto che non lo si sappia apprezzare. Io non scrivo perché come te non ho tempo, non perché non abbia cose da dire. Purtroppo la vita ci impegna sempre più tempo, energie fisiche e psicologiche, e risorse per ottenere meno. E quindi il tempo di coltivare le passioni e gli interessi diventa sempre meno.

E purtroppo è sempre la stessa vita che ci spinge a dare un valore ad ogni cosa: sono convinto che molti abbiano fatto power down, gradualmente o improvviso, proprio perché obbligato a farlo per cercare di resistere ad un sistema che schiaccia sempre di più e che obbliga a "monetizzare" ogni istante della nostra vita. E lo dico da persona che non ha mai fatto un power down neanche di un singolo Hive.

Non si riesce a capire che ognuno di noi dovrebbe sforzarsi di "allargare" il giro di Hive, per arrivare a "spendere" Hive, o meglio HBD piuttosto che fare power down. Ma per quello serve arrivare ad una massa che ancora ed anzi sempre più è lontana dall'essere raggiunta.
