It's raining! It's pouring!
It's been raining for days! While rainy days around here usually mean staying inside, my kids had other plans! The moment the downpour slowed down, they headed right outside. I actually didn't realize these photos existed until I was scrolling through my gallery later. Little Miss had taken my phone and turned yeah, you know the rest. 😅!
She managed to catch some incredible moments of her brother playing in the rainwater pooling on the ground (a recurring problem if I may say), along with a few shots around our yellow yard. The wet pavement had turned into a crystal-clear mirror.
In the first picture, he crouched down low to get a good look at himself. I love this shot because he was so completely focused on his reflection, watching his face floating among the little bubbles in the water. Hmmm, I wonder why there were bubbles?! Aha! Could it be because he poured dish soap on the ground before it rained?! 🥴
Young and carefree!
This one above is my absolute favorite photo, and the one I'm submitting as my main contest entry! He stood tall, threw his arms out wide, and took in the cool post-rain air (Hello, Allergens! 🤧). Little Miss captured something so free and happy- his reflection adding to that of the yellow fence framing the shot. I loooove it!

She didn't stop there, though! She also snapped this gorgeous shot of our potted plants lined up against the yellow fence. The reflection in the water looks almost like a seamless top-and-bottom symmetry.
It was such a sweet surprise finding these in my camera roll. It’s a great little reminder of how creative kids can be when you just hand them a camera and let them play. But I guess it's really the "portrait era" now. While I love taking photos/videos in landscape mode (esp for Hive posts), my kids take in portrait mode. 🤷♀️
