I was just supposed to share this short video of Jonathan Roumie this morning because I realized what he's saying is true. But of course before I even was able to share it here I had to check which community to write on and saw a writing challenge thus it all went downhill from there. 😆
Hours passed, I was writing a long back story to support what I realized which until now I still am not done writing. At this point I thought I gotta stop. Haha.
It Should Not Be About Me
So yeah, it's one more way to remind me to put myself out of the picture. haha. I was writing about my experiences because hey how can other people relate? But then my laundry has been oversoaked because of that and the end was still nowhere in sight.
It's been way more than an hour! Goodness gracious. So it's time I just posted something short without much explanation. hahahaha.
So What's Up with Jonathan Roumie?
I dunno but I've seen several interviews of him and at times I wondered what he meant. If you don't know by now, he's become quite a practicing Catholic, taking his faith seriously. For example, watch this short vid and tell me what stands out to you.
You know from my post title what you should be looking into right? What does he mean when he says, "Get out of the way"?
Yesterday's Life Lesson Today
I had a meeting with two people yesterday but somehow even after processing everything that happened my brain just realized something upon waking up today. (Thank You Lord for Your guidance!) And so I just had to look for a video clip of Jonathan to show people and have a reference point.
It turns out that what Jonathan Roumie has been saying for quite a while now is actually true. In the above particular version he said:
"Self-emptying, is basically it. Just get out of the way. Get out of the way of the (Holy) Spirit and let the Spirit move and direct me where it needs to go."
I didn't get that before. Like what do you mean 'get out of the way'? Why is it important to do such? And all that. Look, even the interviewer glossed over it like it's not a profound statement but that's just me hahaha. (It's 'cause they only have a short time to ask questions.)
I have been hearing him say that over and over in his interviews but I never really understood it until I was put in yesterday's situation. Not even when I got the Lord's message last year that He is in control did it even cross my mind on what Jonathan meant.
For you, does it mean anything? It certainly didn't mean much to me before. It was just something I noticed him say but never really bothered with it. But now as mentioned, I finally understand why he kept saying it.
I mean look, even the interviewer used a different statement as caption to a shorter vid version I found on FB.
So What Does 'Getting Out of the Way' Mean?
You might not be able to relate if you haven't truly served God in any way or tried to do His will. This is why I was writing such a long post to explain a back story but scrap that. I don't have the time. I just wanna post this and be done with it. haha. Am already eating up my prayer time just to finish this!!!
Here's what I realized:
👉 When we're doing God's work we aren't the ones in control. It's not our will that must be done but God's. ‼️ This is what the saints have understood so well.
Yesterday's situation was another proof of that. That meeting was because I was doing something for Him (which I got out of all the praying I did some time ago and this week). I never thought I'd do such but hey I always get in the way of God's plan apparently.
Because even if I want so and so to happen but that's not what God's plan is, why insist upon it? Even if I want to do such and whatever because it's better to be this way or that, how can I be doing God's will if I wanna do things my way? 😂 Crazy really.
So again, as a self-reminder: We can try and try to do things our way but God's way is always the best. So, we better get out of the way the next time we do God's will for His greater glory! 🙏
