SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION

Hello everyone you're welcome to my blog today ❤️❤️

Addiction when we talk about addiction what comes to mind addition is simply having the feeling or urge to do something or take something into our body system or acting a particular way that we know is detrimental to our health but we don't have control over it . In most cases if we don't do that time it feels like we are sick or something is wrong with us. There are different forms of addiction that is substance addiction and substance addiction is the kind of addition that is attributed to taking drugs, alcohol, smoking and the rest of them.

The other addiction has to do with our behavior some people are addicted to being on their phones all through the day, some people are addicted to gaming , people are addicted to hanging out with friends, some people are even addicted to sexual activities . One thing about addiction is that most times we don't have control over it and it is hard for you to say I will not do this thing you find yourself going back to it.

Is addiction a choice or a disease at this point am finding it hard to differentiate the two if it should be a disease then there should be a medicine to cure it or a therapy to cure it, then if it's a choice we can wake up one morning and decide not to do it again.

But at the same time looking at it from the other way round it could be a choice as well as a disease depending on the level of addiction . Drug addiction inhaling of cocaine and marijuana , not all diseases need medicine to cure them therapy can help someone who is battling with substance addiction to be able to overcome it is only going to take patience and self control to overcome it.

I don't know if there's anything like social media addiction because for me I feel like that is what I suffered from , so earlier on this year I started being very active on tiktok everyday I'm making videos and following up the recent trends and in as much as it was fun it took so much of my time. Whenever I pick up my phone there is nothing useful that I would do if I'm not making a video I am scrolling through other people's video. I can literally pick up my phone to do something important and open tiktok and that is it for hours I will be stuck there and that was my addiction.

And you know what the disadvantages hit me really hard because tiktok will finish your data , I repeat tiktok will finish your data I learned the hard way. So within that time I noticed that I bought so much data and not for anything reasonable I wasn't getting any money with all the data wasting . I was just watching other people's videos and keeping myself busy with something that is not paying me I was like okay I have come to realize that I'm addicted tiktok I stepped back from it .

My first step was deleting my tiktok app I was tempted to download it so many times but I stood my ground and said no more tiktok, let me focus on something else, something useful something that will help me develop myself and for some months now I've been able to overcome that addiction even if you open tiktok on your phone to show me something I just look at it and go my way and continue what I'm doing I wouldn't have that feeling to start downloading it on my own phone.

I engrossed myself into listening to music more and vibing to good music, even when I have no work to do music helps me work faster ,it has helped me a lot to overcome my addiction of that particular social media app. So in summary addiction can either be a choice or a disease but the ability for you to overcome it all depends on your level of control , patience and your mindset.
