Hey, internet folks—how’s it going? Today I decided to try drawing Haru from Beastars; it’s actually pretty difficult, though I think it turned out quite decent, lol.
Hola, gente de Internet ¿todo bien? Hoy quise intentar dibujar a Haru de Beastars, la verdad es que es bastante difícil, aunque creo que quedó bastante decente lol
The first step is, obviously, sketching. My sketches always start out looking quite distorted—lol—because I want to secure the space before focusing on the character's form; so, I use rounded shapes and then refine things a bit more later on.
Lo primero es evidenetemente bocetear, mis bocetos siempre empiezan bastante deformes lol porque quiero asegurar el espacio antes que la forma del personaje, asi que hago formas redondeadas y después termino definiendo un poco más
At this stage, I had it a bit more defined; I was sketching it out using a 2B Faber-Castell pencil. I further refined Haru’s silhouette.
Aqui ya la tenía un poco más definida, la estaba boceteando con un lápiz 2B de Faber-Castell. Definí un poco más la silueta de Haru
Once I had Haru’s outline set, I went over it more firmly with an HB pencil and began adding shadows to give her a bit more definition, so she wouldn’t look so 2D.
Una vez que ya tenía definida a Haru, la remarqué mejor con un lápiz HB y empecé a hacer las sombras sobre ella paradarle un pocomás de definición para que no se viera tan 2D
First of all, since the reference drawing I used was in color, I initially intended to add color to my version; however, once I saw how it turned out in graphite, I decided to leave it as is—I liked it much better that way. I also added a little flower for three reasons: it’s a personal touch of mine, it provides a reason for Haru to be crouched down looking at "something," and the character happens to love botany—in fact, she was the only member of the gardening club! :3
Primeramente y ya que el dibujo que usé de como referencia estaba a color, quería colorearla, sin embargo al ver el resultado en grafito decidí dejarla tal cual, me gustó mucho más, además le agregué una florecita por tres razones: un toque personal mio, para que tuviera sentido que Haru estuvese agachada mirando "algo" y porque el personaje ama la botánica y era la unica miembro de club de jardinería :3
