TODAYS COLOURING PAGE
Today's coloring page update.
Hey guys, it's Blingit. I am just writing a post today to update you on where I am with my coloring book that I am creating.
For those of you that don't know, this is the general brief.
The brief of the coloring book.
The coloring book that I am creating is a 40-page coloring book of 8.5 by 8.5 designs, and the topic for it is motivational quotes for dancers, based around my art characters that I create and do a lot of designing with, which are ballet koalas from a fake ballet school called KDC Koala Dance Center here in Australia.
It's a bit kitschy. It's a bit cute, but all the kids at my dance school love it. So I am creating a different coloring book for them.
So the art design is basically motivational or cute art or cute dance quotes, and then lots of bold and easy little shapes and things around to color in, with a few of my dancing koalas thrown in as well. I haven't got the mix quite right yet. I'm just working on designing the artwork.

Method of creation.
So to create these coloring pages, I have a whole set of little motifs and things that I have drawn in Procreate. Some of them are elements that I have bought in paid elements, but mostly I have drawn most of them, and for the most part, I have to redraw most of them because I like them at a specific size and I don't like the line art to be different weights by scaling items up and down.
So if I do use elements that I have purchased, I normally redraw. However all the koala's are all mine.
So what I will do is I'll start with a quick sketch and I'll go, yeah, okay, put a few items in here, some text in the middle in this part, and then there is a hidden layer actually in my Procreate that you can't see, where I have input the individual elements into a layer, and then I redraw everything over the top of that. (Did you know you can add hidden layers in procreate)
after i get the PNG art, i also run it through a program called vectorizer, that cleans the edge of the rastor images that come out of procreate. its just adding a nice smooth edge. makes the line art SUPER crisp. you can see it easily but it DOES make a difference. Just a tiny bit. clearer.
Now in this video that you will see below, there is a color layer. Please note, just for clarity, that that color layer is not colored by me. I uploaded my hand-drawn coloring page into AI and asked it to draw it with these colors.
So I did do a rough color on Procreate, but I didn't have time to finish it up properly, so I then put my rough color of Procreate into AI and it regenerated it, after a lot of kerfuffle because it kept changing my line art, and I'm like, GPT, honestly, you're dumb.
It would have been quicker for me to do it myself today... however once started i was like... nope.. anyway... i don't always do it that way as i DO often colour it myself. but i was trying to cut a corner... and didn't really suceed...lol lol lol
Anyway i have about 15 drawn... and the drafts done for 35/40 at the moment. So hopefully only a week or so and i should be done with the line art.. FINGERS CROSSED.
However, we eventually got there.
