In this post, I'm about to show you some stuff I saw upon entering the region called The Emerald Stairs in Avowed. Avowed is the name of the game I'm lately posting about quite often.
This was my first litlle quest in that region. I just had to climb a small hill, take an ancient vase situated at its top, and return it ...
... to this funny litlle sorceress that sent me on the quest.
Here you can see the bridge and the massive gate that leads from Downshore, the region where I started the game, to the Emerald Stairs. Entering a new biome in a fantasy game is always very exciting. You never know how exactly the new region will feel, even if you have a general idea about its appearance.
The mushrooms in The Emerald Stairs were quite different. Very colorful and beautiful.
Part of the path to the top of the hill led through the remains of some ancient buildings.
Some mushrooms in this lush, green region can walk, jump, and throw poison, but they look like ordinary mushrooms when still. They will often ambush you.
Here you can see a bunch of colorful mushrooms at the base of the hill.
I took this screenshot when I was a litlle bit more than halfway from the top. It's a nice view. Plenty of vegetation in all directions as far as the eye can see.
Another screenshot from the same altitude. This one shows a bit of the local architecture, as well. The structure shown here is a pretty tall and elegant bridge across a deep gorge.
This is the top of the hill. An ancient temple once stood there. You can still see the altar and the precious vase I was searching for. I found some other valuables too, there, a handful of ancient coins and an axe that looked like someone had left it recently.
When I returned to the base of the hill, the sorceress seemed surprised to see me alive. I mean, she was pleased, but I bet she thought the moving mushrooms called sporelings would probably kill me. I gave her the vase and received considerably more money than I expected.
This last screenshot shows the loading screen I had to endure for at least 30 seconds upon entering the new region.
