Greetings to the esteemed Shadow Hunters community! I welcome you to my latest entry for this week's SMARP contest—round #291. For this contest, I wanted to share a series of reflections that evoke memories of my time as a shy science student at the university. After all, there are places, objects, or even circumstances that transport us back to moments of nostalgia—moments that seemed like ordinary, insignificant parts of daily life while we were living them, but which we appreciate much more in retrospect. It is precisely because of their fleeting nature—yet the way they shaped our personalities—that they stand out; in other words, they were "canon events" in our lives.
In my case, I experienced several of those canon events in front of the university's bulletin boards. I still remember the first time I went to check the admission results when I was applying to study biology; the thrill of being accepted is a moment seared into my memory. Today, whenever I see that same bulletin board—and the reflections of students within it, whether sitting and studying or simply walking through the corridors—it inevitably brings those memories flooding back.
Then there are the memories of checking midterm exam grades on those boards. The toughest subjects were, of course, mathematics and physics; they were the bane of us biology students, as we had to endure nearly a year and a half of those classes before finally getting to the subjects actually related to our major. It was in these long, reflective corridors that I spent endless hours playing Magic: The Gathering with my friends who were physics majors! They were among the few diversions we had during the breaks between classes—which sometimes dragged on for three or four hours—so we would simply sprawl on the floor, pull out our decks of cards, and enjoy the moment. I won’t lie: I look back on those times with great fondness. That is why I tell my students today to cherish the time they spend with their classmates and to savor every moment; after all, if there is anything that is truly ours—something we can spend and squander however we please—it is our youth.
And so, we arrive at the final image: the reflection of the main courtyard at the School of Biology, seen from the end of that long, covered walkway—a space that turns dark when the days outside are bright and radiant, just as they are now. I liked the reflection of my two professors on the notice board; they once taught me, and now we stand on the same side, training students in the faculty. It is like living the same movie but from a different perspective. That is why this reflection is so fitting: it highlights the interplay between the actual image and its reflection—elements that seem to stretch toward infinity. Yet, as we know from mathematics—specifically calculus—everything tends to converge, and in this reflection, the image tends to converge toward our memories.
Well, friends, I really got carried away with this post, but I couldn't help it. The memories and emotions evoked by the images reflected in those notice boards really set my imagination soaring😅, so I hope you enjoyed it. See you in the next SMARP. Cheers!

Saludos!
