This isn't news for most people. AI content is seen on Hive regularly. Most people appropriately cite it and give credit where it's due, like with this post image.
It's recently come up that the account @hive3 is putting out content that is predominantly AI-generated. It even accurately guessed and won a contest @solominer hosted: https://peakd.com/hive-104500/@solominer/we-have-a-bit-of-a-problem-with-the-desfran-contest-results
A big kudos to solominer for honoring the prize. I'd be tempted not to, but it's important to honor one's word.
The issue I have isn't with the content or what they're building. I take issue with the fact that its posts are set to collect rewards. And for what? Minimal effort? It's proofread by a human, but is that really worthy of rewards? If the posts were set to burn author rewards that would be different.
I'm sure some will look at the rewards and wonder what the harm is. It's a valid question. Look at it purely based on principle. Do we want to reward content created by AI that's simply being proofread? The ideas may be unique, but Hive is all about social interaction and community. Does AI ultimately contribute to that end? No.
I use downvotes sparingly, but this is one instance where even I'm stepping in. I'm open to being convinced otherwise, but I don't believe the posts and comments on the account should receive any rewards. I created the @nectarbytes account to curate short form content and reward users who are putting in effort. I'll also be using the account to downvote AI content such as this that is taking rewards from others who are putting in effort.
Maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe I'm not. I'm open to counterarguments.
