The Good Side of Clout Chasing

I have learnt to know that for every action performed by humans, there is always a reason behind it. When we try to apply this to the act of helping others, we will also realise that there is a reason behind every act of help, whether good or bad.

We have people who help others because it makes them feel good. There is just that unexplainable good feeling that comes to them whenever they lend a helping hand and put a smile on someone's face, and this is their own reason for helping.

For some people, they have been helped in the past by strangers or someone they know, and they took it upon themselves to also be good to others. That is their own reason.

When it comes to clout chasers and helping others, this also falls into many categories.

There are those who use their acts of kindness to chase clout, promote themselves, and become famous. In that way, they can attract other philanthropists to invest in them so they can continue to help others.

These sets of people are many on social media. Here in my country, we have the likes of Asherkine, Mr. Bike, and others. Everything they do is online. They approach people in need and sometimes just random people they feel deserve something from them. Sometimes, a game is involved, and other times, the people they approach share their stories with the public before they receive something from them.

This help does not come for free, right? They make someone happy, and then they also drive traffic to their social media accounts, promote their platforms, and become more visible. As a result, they are able to attract more people who are willing to invest in them so they can continue what they are doing.

I personally believe this kind of clout chasing is good, not bad, for both parties. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Think about it. Someone who is struggling gets help that could make a difference in their life, while the person providing that help gains attention, popularity, and possibly more financial support to help even more people. Why should we see this as something bad when both parties benefit from it?

Of course, there may be people who fake their kindness or use the suffering of others just to gain attention. That is a different matter entirely. However, I do not think we should judge everyone who helps others publicly simply because they also benefit from doing so.

Personally, I do not believe that every act of kindness must be done in secret before it can be considered genuine. If someone chooses to help others publicly and gains something from it, that does not automatically make their help worthless.

So, if I happen to come across one of those people, I will be happy to receive their help. I cannot count that as using me, especially if I willingly accept the help and both of us benefit from the encounter.

At the end of the day, what matters to me is the impact of the help. If someone can make my life better while also improving their own life through the attention they receive, then I see no reason why I should complain about it.
