Five episodes into Gossip Girl, and “Dare Devil” feels like one of those episodes where several characters suddenly move a little closer to trouble.
Dan's plans for his first official date with Serena are actually pretty sweet. He wants everything to be perfect, but the more he tries, the more obvious it becomes that Serena doesn't really need anything elaborate. Their relationship works best when they forget about their completely different backgrounds and simply enjoy being together.
But Jenny's night is where things get really interesting.
Being invited to Blair's sleepover sounds like a huge opportunity for her to finally enter that exclusive world she's been watching from the outside. Unfortunately, a simple game of truth or dare becomes something much more intense. I liked seeing Jenny refuse to remain the innocent little outsider everyone expects her to be. She can definitely play the game too.
Meanwhile, Lily searching for Eric brings a more serious emotional layer to the episode, and turning to Rufus for help gives us another glimpse of the history between them. I'm becoming increasingly curious about those two.

Probably the most entertaining episode so far. Jenny surprised me, Dan and Serena continue to be charming together, and the Lily/Rufus storyline is quietly becoming one of my favorites.
Five episodes in, Gossip Girl definitely has me hooked.
