[TV] 🎂 Gossip Girl — S1E8: Seventeen Candles | Not the Birthday Blair Wanted

Blair's 17th birthday should be a happy night, but in “Seventeen Candles,” she's basically trying to smile while everything around her becomes more complicated.

After what happened at Victrola, seeing Blair around Chuck is completely different now. She wants to keep their secret buried, but Chuck clearly isn't making that easy. Their dynamic is messy, unexpected and honestly becoming one of the most entertaining parts of the show.

At the same time, Blair is still hoping Nate will finally give her what she wants. Watching her wait for him while pretending everything is fine made me feel bad for her. She spends so much time trying to appear perfect that it's easy to forget how insecure she really is.

I also enjoyed Jenny becoming more involved in Blair's world. She's learning quickly, although getting closer to this group usually comes with a price.

And then there's Dan and Serena. Compared with everyone else, their relationship almost feels peaceful right now... which probably means trouble isn't far away.

⭐ My Rating: 91/100

Not quite as strong as “Victor/Victrola” for me, but still one of my favorites so far. Blair continues to be the most interesting character, and the situation between her, Nate and Chuck is becoming impossible to ignore.

At this point, I'm definitely more invested in Blair's complicated love life than I expected to be.
