Tonight, I'm sharing one of John Lennon's most beautiful and introspective songs, related to his experiences, mistakes, loves, and even places. He tells us in the song that these places were part of his life and will last forever. It's a song immersed in an era full of changes and transformations, where music led the way in this entire cultural landscape. The song I'm referring to is "In My Life," and for me, it's one of Lennon's most beautiful songs.

The song is the eleventh track on the legendary album "Rubber Soul," and it was recorded on October 18, 1965—61 years ago, which is being commemorated today, October 18. It was recorded at EMI Studios in London, under the Parlophone label, and was written by Lennon and McCartney and produced by George Martin. Many critics categorize it as soft rock or baroque pop; Lennon himself called it autobiographical, and I personally consider it a gem among gems, both in its lyrics and music.

It began as a kind of poem based on Lennon's childhood, and then Lennon himself added the figures of friends and places. Undoubtedly, Penny Lane and Strawberry Field are part of those lyrics; he doesn't name them in the song, but years later they appear in his own songs. Taken together, they are all memories of the past, and that's how Lennon presents us with this interesting collection of realities he experienced. So the song speaks of "there are places I'll remember all my life, even though some have changed," and it includes friends, romantic relationships, and other circumstances in that same vein. I find it brilliant and fabulous.

In his book "Many Years From Now," McCartney states that he composed the music for Lennon's lyrics, and it all came together as the song we know. George Martin played the piano we hear at the beginning, middle, and end of the song, and according to Martin, this melody was inspired by Bach. Martin's piano contribution was then mixed with certain recording techniques to make the piano sound like a harpsichord, a type of antique piano. I find that detail spectacular. Besides George Martin on piano, John also contributed lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Paul played bass and provided backing vocals, George played lead guitar and also provided backing vocals, and Ringo played drums and tambourine.

It's an incredibly beautiful and heartfelt song, with a very evident emotional charge, and any of us could see ourselves reflected in the lyrics. For me, it's a universal theme that reflects the human experience, past, present, future, and perhaps even eternity.

One final comment, my friends: I wanted to let you know that a few weeks ago a special edition of this Rubber Soul LP was released, titled Special Edition. It was produced and remixed by the son of producer George Martin, Giles Martin, who, using original master tapes, was able to remaster the entire album with stereo and Dolby Atmos remixes. This disc also includes demos and unreleased sessions of all the songs on the album, as well as a completely unreleased and unknown Lennon track titled "Little Girl," and the single "We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper."
