Ruins of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

IMG_1790.jpg

Ulyanovsk Region, the small and nearly deserted village of Surovka and the ruins of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Information about this church is extremely scarce. According to some sources, it was built in 1820 by a local landowner, while others say it was built around the same time by the peasants themselves. But I'm not a historian to search for exact dates. The fact that this building is over two centuries old is sufficient. Although there are no plans to restore the church, it's noticeable that people come here. The interior is relatively clean, with some resemblance of an altar. Several painted icons on the walls also remain.
