Best regards Splinterlovers 💚
One of the things I like most about the game is battling; however, in “Frontier” I hadn’t had the chance to do it that often, since I still believe this is a “format” for newer players and newcomers looking to earn free rewards without spending practically any money on the game—which is a dream, We’d all love to win without spending a penny, but things don’t work that way. Even so, I decided to play a few battles to try to complete the daily rewards you get for winning about 15 battles—which isn’t bad at all. I like the system, though it could certainly be improved even further—especially when it comes to the rewards, of course.
But it was precisely during that “testing” phase that I was able to analyze patterns and the cards I had available—since I don’t have all the units from the “Foundations” set. So, to try to avoid being at a disadvantage, I bought a few packs on the market, I got some good cards and one “Legendary” in particular that I used in practically every match. So, to get good results, you’ll need it—though it can easily be replaced. But to wrap up this introduction, I managed to put together a deck that rarely let me down and gave me a pretty good “win rate.”
That’s why I want to share a post today that’s different from what I’ve usually been posting for a long time—great battle decks so you can try to replicate them and win lots of battles in the “Frontier Format.”
The Context of the Battle and the Choice of Summoner
To give you some context, I need to share one of the battles with you—or at least one of them—because there were more than 20, and I don’t want to share them all since that would be too much for this post, so one will suffice. Believe me, though—the strategy is sound. Although it’s really simple to apply and not very complex, this is where the importance of “observing” what others are doing lies—and how to use that as a reference to either apply the same strategy when you have the chance or create a variation that helps you at a specific moment.
So, next, I’ll first present the “Battle Conditions” that should be in place before you even try to replicate what I’m about to explain:
Requirements That Must Be Met
There’s not much of a mystery here, since this is a “Frontier” battle and there aren’t many conditions to consider—especially in the league we’re playing in, which is “Bronze 3 and 2.” So, what you need to keep in mind to succeed is very simple:
Battle Mana Cost: This is the cornerstone of the strategy because if we don’t have enough mana cost—specifically 43 points—we might be able to pull it off with less, but since we’ll be missing a card to play, we’ll have to replace it, and this could cost us crucial attack power needed for everything to go smoothly, which could reduce the strategy’s effectiveness.
The Modifier Doesn’t Matter: Since we’re playing at the very beginning of the game, the only modifier available to us is “Standard.” This means there are no rules to adapt to, so the only thing you need to consider is the amount of mana available so you can play the cards in the combination I’ll present in the next section.
NOTE: As I mentioned, you can create variations of this strategy and don't have to strictly adhere to the 43 mana total; you can use fewer mana points and swap out some of the cards, but this will reduce the strategy's effectiveness, so your chances of winning will decrease. However, with some testing, you may be able to find a stronger combination than the one I'm presenting.
Strategy Analysis and Card-by-Card Breakdown
As I said, this battle doesn't have a special modifier to work with, so we're relying solely on the cards we need to use and the positions of each monster. This is important because if we change the positions of the cards, the strategy might not work as intended, so keep that in mind.
Now, let's move on to the card-by-card analysis:
Required Combination
Archon/Summoner: Here, the summoner we should use is “Marlai Singariel,” because she has the ability to increase “Magic” attack by +1 point.
Tank 1: Here we’ll play the “Neutral” card called “New Beluroc Aegis.” It’s essential to play this card because it has the “Taunt” ability, which draws all of the opponent’s attacks toward it, diverting damage from the opponent’s other attacks solely to this card and giving the rest of our team a chance to attack.
Tank 2: Since this card also doesn’t have many health points, it might fall quickly in one or two rounds. To address this, we must play the card called “Port Guardian,” which acts as a substitute tank to absorb the opponent’s attacks while the heavy magical artillery continues its assault.
Tank and Offensive: In this position, we play the card called “Great Bear Druid,” which has two types of attacks—one melee and one magical—so it can easily act as both a tank and one of the “Offensive” cards in the combination.
Offense 2: Here we’ll place the card called “Water-Logged Wizard,” whose sole purpose is to attack thanks to its magical attack.
Offense 3: Here we must play the card called “Lunaki Howler,” which has the same mission as the previous one: to attack exclusively, since its attack type is magical.
Offensive 4: This final card is called “Saltwater Mage” and is the most powerful on the field, which is why it’s in the last position. Although you might think it’s in danger from a possible “Sneak” attack, the reality is that it isn’t—thanks to “Taunt” and our “Tank’s” ability. It’s imperative to play it because its attack points amount to +3 points.
NOTE: This last letter is the one you can replace; however, as I said, it's the most important one, but first you must follow it in the market.
Conclusion
For those who are new to the game and those just starting out in “Frontier,” this strategy can help you win many battles and move up through the leagues—at least up to “Bronze 1.” From there on, you’ll need to analyze your opponents, test different combinations, see how they play against you, and then combine your cards to increase your chances of winning.
