#Monomad Challenge | A Small Town on the Venezuelan Coast [Esp/Eng]

¡Geeente bonita! Un saludo a todos, les quiero compartir mi participación en el desafío #monomad con unas maravillosas fotos que tomé en un pueblito mágico de Venezuela, en Choroní - Estado Aragua. Es la tercera vez que viajo a este lugar, a darme un respiro y desconectarme de la rutina diaria y el trabajo. Choroní es un pueblo costero de Venezuela; existen dos formas de llegar a él, a través del mar y por la montaña. La ruta en vehículo es algo peligrosa, debido a sus múltiples curvas y su vegetación selvática conformada por el Parque Nacional Henri Pittier, dónde se aloja una gran mayoría de flora y fauna autóctona de nuestro país.

Al llegar a Choroní cambia un poco la cosa: el olor a sal, las casas coloniales, muy antiguas, algunas son de barro, se caracteriza por sus calles angostas y todas desembocan en el malecón de Choroní. Las paredes de las casas y posadas se han convertido en murales de múltiples artistas nacionales, entre ellos Jko_art.cl en Instagram quien tiene varias obras en el pueblo, abunda el arte en sus trayectos. Mi intención fue captar un poco de ese arte en las fotografías tomadas por mi persona, que hacen de este lugar turístico más ameno, dando la sensación de estar en un pueblo mágico, dónde no solamente vemos playas, sino también un poco de su cultura.

También existen muchos establecimientos de comida, bebidas, fármacos, artículos de pesca, venta de plantas y mucha artesanía y decoración. Para el acceso a la playa, hay que atravesar el río, que puede ser a pie o por un pequeño puente peatonal, ya que los carros atraviesan el río; y justo en esa corriente del río a la playa se aparcan las lanchas dentro del agua (como se evidencia en las fotos). Es un lugar mágico y seguro, que volvería a visitar una y mil veces.

Hey, everyone! Greetings to all—I want to share my participation in the #monomad challenge with some wonderful photos I took in a magical little town in Venezuela, in Choroní, Aragua State. This is the third time I’ve traveled to this place to take a break and disconnect from my daily routine and work. Choroní is a coastal town in Venezuela; there are two ways to get there—by sea or through the mountains. The drive is a bit dangerous due to its many curves and the dense jungle vegetation of Henri Pittier National Park, home to a large majority of our country’s native flora and fauna.

When you arrive in Choroní, things change a bit: the smell of salt, the very old colonial houses—some made of mud—and the narrow streets, all of which lead to the Choroní boardwalk. The walls of the houses and inns have been transformed into murals by various local artists, including Jko_art.cl on Instagram, who has several works in the town; art abounds along the streets. My intention was to capture a bit of that art in the photos I took myself, which make this tourist destination more enjoyable, giving the feeling of being in a magical town where we see not only beaches but also a glimpse of its culture.

There are also many shops selling food, drinks, medicine, fishing gear, plants, and a wide variety of handicrafts and decorative items. To access the beach, you have to cross the river—either on foot or via a small pedestrian bridge, since cars drive right through the river—and right where the river flows into the beach, the boats are parked in the water (as shown in the photos). It’s a magical and safe place that I’d visit again and again.
