The teacher asks him to introduce himself to the class, but he turns out to be quite a shy boy; you can barely understand what he is saying. Despite his low tone of voice, Togashi manages to hear his name: Komiya.

Later, upon arriving home, he looks out the window and notices Komiya running by again. He calls out to him, but Komiya doesn't hear, so Togashi goes outside to catch up with him. Togashi suggests having a chat, and they decide to go to the same spot where they first met.
Togashi asks him why he was running so much, and Komiya replies that he was only doing it to forget his problems, as running allowed him to escape reality. He opens up about how hard it is for him to talk to people due to his shyness and how he doesn't know how to solve his problems.
Togashi gives him some advice, telling him that just running won't solve his problems, but for him, there is a rule in this world: being the fastest in the 100 meters fixes everything.
Komiya asks if there is any chance he could improve, and Togashi replies that it strictly depends on him. Komiya looks at him with great determination.
Togashi decides to help Komiya, and they meet up every day to train. The goal is for Komiya to prepare for the 100-meter race at school, as he wants to win a medal and be number one for the very first time.
The day of the race arrives, and only Komiya participates while Togashi cheers him on from the sidelines. As the race starts, Komiya falls, but he gets back up and, with immense determination, wins the race.

The next day, the teacher addresses the students and breaks some bad news: due to family reasons, Komiya had to transfer to another school, leaving Togashi surprised and a bit saddened.
After this, the story shows us the reality of an athlete's life: even with natural talent and having achieved success, one still goes through difficult times, doubts, and rough patches. However, destiny will bring them together once again...

First, the characters: Togashi, a prodigy, and Komiya who, despite his shyness, hid great determination. On the other hand, the animation is very good; they make extensive use of rotoscoping, an animation technique where frames are drawn or traced over live-action video to achieve fluid and realistic movements. Even if you are not a fan of this sport, I still recommend it.
