After nearly eight years on Hive I am happy to say I am leaving on good terms. If you would give me this opportunity to share my heart and last thoughts with you, you will fully understand my decision.
Meet Your Newest Life Coach
I’m embarking on a new journey. A career that is very fitting for who I am.
I have always been an attentive listener and love helping people come up with strategies and solutions to their problems. Making myself available and giving others an outlet to vent and express themselves has always been my specialty.
I will now be doing what I’m passionate about as a living. I never would have imagined me doing this as a career. I’ve been a stay at home, homemaking homeschooler mom for the last thirteen years. I’ve ventured out with other entrepreneurial opportunities but nothing like this where I will be coaching every week.
I am currently apprenticing under my sister-in-law who is a licensed clinical psychotherapist. This is such a great advantage for me because I get first hand experience with shadowing her during her sessions. Meeting with her week to week to go over questions, learning about important forms I’ll need when I officially start, and getting an overall idea of the process has been very enriching and enlightening.
On top of my training with her I’ll be working towards various certifications to gain an ample amount of knowledge and understanding about my role as a life coach.
The difference between what I’m used to doing and what a life coach does is that I can’t advise or try to fix someone’s life. My job is to help guide them to make their own goals and hold them accountable to seeing them through.
With that said, the business partnership my sister and I are building is super exciting. Once her clients are at a place where they are ready to move forward with making future plans, she sends them my way to be coached.
I remember noticing a few years back that several homemaker moms were getting part-time jobs. I thought to myself that I am done with doing that and love that my only work lies within my home (unless I choose to work our photography business which isn’t often). Things have completely changed in that my family needs my assistance with financial support.
We could continue the way we are but it would be so tough to do the things we want to accomplish. One of those major things is buying our first home.
This new venture will be very time consuming taking up a lot of mental space and energy. It’ll be more than just the one hour sessions I have. It’s all the prep work, research and studying I’ll be doing in between along with touching bases with clients off session.
With homeschooling still being a top priority, I won’t have the time to commit to being here, especially with running a community. In my earlier blogging days I was willing to take on more than I could handle because I loved it so much. Now, as I age I am learning my new limitations and have to make smarter choices for my mental and physical wellbeing. Also importantly, making sure I have time for my family.
So as you can see, it’s time for me to part ways as I began this new chapter in my life.
Hive Thoughts
I was once called a Hive celebrity when I was consistently making posts to help guide newbies and refresher posts for veterans. You call it bragging I call it being proud of accomplishments 😜!
This particular post really put me on the map as an influential and impactful writer. The fact that I published that post three years ago and today it is still being shared and reblogged is astonishing to me. People still comment with a thank you letting me know they are following the guides we listed out for them.
Putting that collab post together was one of my greatest achievements on Hive. My experiences along with the skills I’ve gained here is what enabled me to put together a sixteen minute gravitating piece such as that. I owe that to this platform and the people who have taught and inspired me along the way.
I wasn’t a blogger before Hive. It is here I learned HTML formatting, editing, more about proper punctuations and grammar, photo sizing, how to excite my readers, how to make eye-catching cover photos, the importance of valuable feedback and comments. It is here that I discovered my love for photography along with other interests I didn’t know I had. My leadership, managing, creativity and organizational skills have all improved from being on this platform.
I am truly grateful for these things I’ve gained. I don’t have any regrets for spending so much time here these past eight years. I am leaving with so much more than what I came here with.
I do want to shoutout to the OCD crew that gave me a shot and allowed me to be on the team. These few I’m about to mention are ones that trained and taught me a lot about behind the scenes and how to be a good curator. Just by being in the OCD discord I gained so much knowledge of things.
To @acidyo, @livinguktaiwan, @ybanezkim26 and @macchiata thank you for being awesome! I can’t count the times I’ve reached out to each of you to ask a question or steer me in the right direction and each time you have been supportive. Especially you Living, we’ve had our fair share of conversations and I appreciate you so much lady. I will miss being in the know with you all 😄☺️.
I hope I am leaving you with a lasting impression. Those who have ever came to me for help and guidance I hope I did the job well. I’m grateful for the many times I’ve been called influential, an asset, a leader and an impactful contributor to Hive 💓.
NeedleWorkMonday
I’ve seen when community leaders leave Hive on not so good terms and take their communities and the keys with them. They feel since it’s something they’ve built it belongs to them and should go too.
Believe me I get it. I’ve poured my heart and soul into the NeedleWorkMonday Community for the last seven years watching it grow and flourish. Countless hours are spent building and managing communities (especially if it’s an active one).
I have said from the getgo this community is not MY community but OUR community. Those who’ve made life here from posting, participating, supporting, upvoting, giving shoutouts, sharing who we are etc are the ones that make this community what it is. This is why this community has been one of the longest thriving communities for so long and continues to be so.
Who would I be to shut it down and say it’s over? No way. I wouldn’t dare do such a thing. The needlework community is here to stay and I believe it will continue to evolve into something even greater. 😊
I am leaving the NeedleWorkMonday Community in the hands of @kattycrochet and @lauramica!
They have been leaders here for quite some time now and are well capable of leading and maintaining this space. I am so grateful to these ladies for stepping up and taking on their new role as administrators.
I will stick around behind scenes for awhile to make sure they have what they need and are fully comfortable with taking over.
I will miss all the fun, talks, laughs and learning that takes place. I have so much love for the needle arts. My heart is full knowing this community has touched and inspired so many people. Making people feel welcomed, supported and encouraged as always been the main goals and I’m glad to say we have stuck by them.
Katty and Laura you girls are the best and I am forever grateful to you both. It’s been a fun journey working with you 😘.
Farewell
I leave you with a heart full of gratitude, appreciation and love for such a people as you. This experience with all of the opportunities that have existed will forever be remembered and cherished.
I’m thankful to be leaving with a heavy heart due to how much I’m going to miss being here instead of a heavy heart full of regrets.
I have no regrets on who I’ve been to this platform or what I’ve shared. I have been committed and dedicated to the growth and wellbeing of Hive and have always been authentic, genuine and transparent. What you’ve received is all I am.
I hope you continue going strong and making this place even better than what I imagined it to become. Hive is special and I hope many more people join so they can experience the benefits.
