Chelsea fans can breathe a sigh of relief this weekend. Cole Palmer is expected to be fully fit and ready to start against Bournemouth on Saturday.
The 24-year-old had been ruled out of England’s latest Nations League squad due to a minor muscular issue, raising concerns after his injury-plagued 2025/26 campaign. But the early signs are encouraging.
Rather than joining the England squad, Palmer opted to work with a specialist fitness coach in the Caribbean during the international break. Chelsea management supported the decision, prioritizing his long-term fitness over immediate return.
Xabi Alonso confirmed the good news this week. "He has trained the last week and has felt better. We didn't want to rush because we had the time," Alonso said. "What is most important for Cole is to be fully fit."
Palmer has been Chelsea’s most creative force this season, registering 4 goals and 2 assists before the injury interrupted his momentum. His return provides a major lift for a Blues side dealing with several other key absences.
Palmer faces the challenge of regaining match sharpness against a tough Bournemouth side, but if he can carry his pre-injury form, Chelsea will have their best chance to climb the table.
Kickoff: Saturday, Oct 10 | Stamford Bridge | 3:00 PM WAT
