The other day I mentioned KuCoin had extended the COTI staking promotion offering an 18% APR. I had not logged in to check for the last few days which I would normally have done if I was at home.
The part of the message I did not see as at the time I was staked and still active so I just thought it would continue. If you are also doing the COTI staking on KuCoin then make sure you redeem your stake and restake for another period.
The original promotion was from the 10th August until the 10th September, but having seen someone mention that it was ongoing I had no idea I had to redeem my stake and resubmit for the next period. This is a bummer considering the 4 days has cost me around 720 COTI. All good though as I am back on track and now understand how this staking on KuCoin works as not all staking procedures are the same.
The word ongoing got me as you would presume it means live and that the stake is locked up earning daily rewards. The staking had expired and the ongoing should not been displayed which maybe an oversight on KuCoin and where they could improve.
There is no end date specified so I am hoping there are no more gremlins and that the stake does not need touching anymore. I am glad I checked other wise i would only have noticed on Wednesday night when I am due home and that would have been another 360 COTI thrown away. The numbers do not mean much right now, but I expect when we hit the $1 price point which I believe we will with COTI then these kinds of mistakes will be ones you look back on with regret. I messed about in the beginning of this promotion undecided and that cost me another week or rather 8 days of rewards so there is roughly close to 2K COTI that was squandered so far.
Funny how we tend to learn through losses and on this occasion things were not that clear or obvious. I am just grateful for the staking opportunity and see all of this as a bonus so there are no regrets and time to continue building. I plan to add another 20K COTI in the next week or so and move my other bits of COTI currently in other wallets to try and get closer to 400K staked COTI by this time next month.
These are all crazy numbers these days and a far cry from 4 years ago when I was pushing for a 15K COTI stake. Targets are easy to achieve if you break them up into small sized chunks over long periods of time and 4 years may seem like a long period, but time flies and it is not that long. Being on HIVE it teaches us to compound and grow steadily so it is just a matter of applying the same type of principles across all your crypto investments. We all possess the skills that crypto requires in order to grow and we are so fortunate the grounding HIVE has given us.
