CCC's Street Art Contest

During the first nineteen days of September, I was in the Algarve, in southern Portugal, where I had the chance to visit some of my family, enjoy a vacation, and expand my collection of street art photographs.

In other words, I have new material to share with this fabulous community that showcases the best street art from around the world. Thank you, @heroldius and @digi-me 🤝 This piece of street art I’m sharing today is very simple—at least in terms of size—but highly symbolic because of where it’s displayed. Santa Luzia, in the municipality of Tavira, is a town where tourism and fishing coexist side by side, known for octopus as its main delicacy.

On the main street, which serves as the boundary between civilization and the Ria Formosa, there are countless restaurants that have earned the town the title of “Octopus Capital.” The best in the Algarve. And, perhaps, the best octopus in the world.

This graffiti, which represents the local maritime identity, is painted on an electrical distribution cabinet—a transformer station—located in an urban area near the town center.

Very nice artwork... And to think that in July I was in the region and it's true that I ate a very good grilled octopus but not in this village. Really a very beautiful region, too bad the water is cold 😀 Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.
