"Who is Vaelok?" asked a curious young elf who was present.
That prompted me to tell him the following story:

Some time ago, a few elves tasked with patrolling our bays arrived with some rather unsettling information. They claimed to have spotted an unknown type of Drakoshian—a variety previously unheard of—that appeared young at first glance yet showed aggression toward peaceful sea-faring creatures; curiously, it seemed to grow stronger the more it ate.

I quickly set out with all the troops stationed here to verify the report, only to encounter a horrific scene: "Two have fallen—help us!" one of the soldiers cried out as he came running over, his movements weak.
At that very moment, the Drakoshian snatched the soldier and carried him off.
We immediately launched an assault; our attacks kept missing due to the creature's remarkable ability to dodge, though some magical strikes did land. We fired arrows and cannon shots, yet it seemed incredibly resilient. Despite the damage it had inflicted, we had hoped to avoid harming it; nevertheless, the moment arrived for the decision I had been dreading: launching a poisoned attack to weaken it.

I raised my bow firmly and, with a poisoned electric arrow, took aim at where he was about to be. I succeeded on my third shot:
Vaelok fell, weakened, yet he remained hostile. In his desperation, he said: "Useless invaders—you seek only dominion for yourselves, using everything to suit your own convenience and will, without respecting our nature."
So, defiant and steadfast, I replied: "Perhaps not everything can be saved... but as long as memory endures, not everything is lost."
But Vaelok, his voice harsh yet less hostile, answered: "Memory is a mirage. What use is remembering if time devours everything?"
I stepped forward calmly and declared: "It serves to resist. Time erases, yes, but memory is the flame that burns even in the darkness. You are the corrosion; I am the remembrance. We are not enemies; we are two truths that need each other."
Vaelok looked at the ground and replied with melancholy: "Then my existence is not a condemnation, but a warning?"
Nodding, I reaffirmed: "Exactly. You reveal the limits; I preserve what deserves to be remembered. Together, we can show that silence and decay are part of the same path."
—Exacto.

In that moment, the air shifted. Five white healer-elves emerged from the rifts, bathed in silvery light. Their hands radiated healing energy—not to erase Vaelok, but to purify his essence. They surrounded the dragon and chanted ancient songs; his purple hide shimmered, and the corrosion consuming him dissipated like smoke.
Vaelok looked up, astonished. For the first time, his eyes reflected neither acid nor rancor, but peace. "I have borne the malice of oblivion for too long... now I understand that I can be a guardian, not a destroyer."
I said (my voice firm yet serene): "Then walk with us. Not as a shadow, but as an ally."
The white elves smiled, and the dragon bowed his head in respect. From that day on, Vaelok ceased to be an enemy and became a protector—a living reminder that even corrosion can be transformed into strength to preserve what truly matters. And that is why news like this fills us with pride—knowing that he and Ineyashami are moving forward and learning together.
