If you're an active player of HiveGrove and regularly participate in the Campfire chat, then you're probably aware of the latest version of HiveGrove that was launched just a few hours ago!
What's interesting is that there wasn't any "alpha news" or major announcement about this update beforehand. It simply came out as a surprise, and I must say that it was a very pleasant one! I was actually quite excited when I discovered the new features, which prompted me to write this post and share my thoughts about them.
All I can say is that HiveGrove looks shinier, newly polished, and more interactive and dynamic than ever!
There are quite a number of improvements introduced in this latest version, but let me start with my favorite one... LOL!
Grove Walk... My New Favorite!
If you've been playing HiveGrove for a while, you probably remember the "Surprise Me" feature, where you could visit random groves and water their trees.
Well, that feature has now evolved into something much more interesting called Grove Walk!
Actually, I think calling it a revamped version of Surprise Me doesn't give it enough credit. In my opinion, this is an entirely new experience!
Basically, Grove Walk takes you on a virtual walk through a forest filled with seedlings and trees that need some watering. You can go through the forest and water one tree after another, helping other players grow their groves.
What's interesting is that you also have the option to skip a tree if you don't feel like watering it. For what reason? I honestly don't know... maybe you don't like the owner of that particular grove? LOL!
Personally, I just water every tree presented to me because I find the whole experience relaxing and somewhat therapeutic.
I particularly enjoy the animation where the plants transform from looking dry and lifeless into something vibrant and healthy after being watered. It's such a simple detail, but it makes the experience more satisfying.
I could actually see myself spending more time doing Grove Walks because of this feature alone. Hehehe!
Revamped Grove... Better Organization!
My second favorite improvement is the revamped Grove page, particularly the new sorting and filtering options.
Before this update, organizing my trees was quite a tedious process. There wasn't an easy one-click option to arrange them according to their watering needs or maturity stages. I had to manually rearrange them based on what I thought was necessary.
Fortunately, that's no longer the case!
With the latest upgrade, I can now organize my grove based on different preferences, including the type of trees, their maturity stages, and which ones need watering.
There's also an option to customize the arrangement according to my personal preference.
I think this is a great quality-of-life improvement, especially for players who own several trees. It makes managing our groves much easier and more convenient.
Leaderboard Prize Split Preview
Another improvement that I believe will excite competitive players is the new Prize Split Preview on the Season Leaderboard.
Previously, players could see the overall prize pool, but the latest upgrade makes it easier to understand how the rewards will be distributed among the top 20 players.
This feature came about after discussions between the developer and the HiveGrove community.
Personally, I think this is a great addition because players can now have a clearer idea of their potential rewards depending on their leaderboard position.
I believe this will motivate more players to become competitive and actively participate in the daily and weekly missions.
After all, seeing the potential amount of HIVE you could earn at the end of the season is definitely exciting!
Deep Roots... A Possible New Mission!
Lastly, there's another interesting development being considered for the next season, and it's called the Deep Roots mission.
Basically, the idea is to reward players with daily leaderboard points for delegating Hive Power (HP) to the @hive-grove account.
A community poll was held to determine how this mission should work, and the option receiving the most support when I checked was to award 1 point daily for every 100 HP delegated, capped at 500 HP.
I think this is a fair proposal because it allows players with smaller HP holdings to participate without making the mission too advantageous for large stakeholders.
Of course, the poll was still active, so we'll have to see what the final decision will be.
What I particularly like about this proposal is that it introduces another way for Hive Power to have utility within the HiveGrove ecosystem while encouraging community participation.
Overall, I'm really happy with the direction HiveGrove is taking. These improvements show that the developer is listening to the community and continuously working to make the game more enjoyable.
It's exciting to see a Hive-based project evolving through feedback and active participation from its players.
Anyway, that's all for today! I have to go now because I still have some trees waiting to be watered.
