A few days ago, I shared my first experience playing Hive Town's Halloween Defense, and I must say that I'm really enjoying this game! It brings back some good memories from my childhood, especially the excitement of figuring out strategies and finding ways to defeat enemies.
My previous post actually received some good feedback from fellow Hive users. But what caught my attention the most was a comment from another Hive Town player who mentioned that it's possible to complete all 15 waves without selling a single tower!
Whoa... seriously?!? LOL!
That comment made me rethink my entire strategy because, during my first victory, I had to sell several towers and rebuild them near the final stretch just to defeat the Honey Devourer.
So I decided to challenge myself to win without selling any towers and, more importantly, without losing a single heart!
After several attempts, I finally figured out a strategy that worked!
Just a quick disclaimer: The strategy I'm sharing today helped me achieve a perfect defense, but there's one critical detail that I won't reveal. I want you to discover it yourself because I believe that's part of what makes this game exciting. π
My Strategy... Focus on Firepower!
After thinking about the tip I received, I realized that perhaps I was spending too much honey on slowing down enemies instead of defeating them quickly.
My new approach was to prioritize offensive towers and maximize their damage output while keeping the Honey Traps at their basic level.
Sounds simple, right? Well, it took quite a few attempts before I managed to make it work, LOL!
Here's how I built my defense throughout the 15 waves.
Waves 1β3: Building My Frontline
During the first three waves, I focused on using my available honey to establish a strong frontline.
I arranged my towers in the following order:
- Bee Watchtower β Fast attacks against approaching enemies.
- Pumpkin Cannon β Area damage against groups of monsters.
- Spirit Crystal β Chain lightning that can hit multiple enemies.
- Honey Trap β Slows down enemies passing through.
- Pumpkin Cannon β Additional firepower to finish off the survivors.
This combination proved effective enough to clear the early waves and prepare me for the stronger monsters arriving later.
Waves 4β10: Strengthening My Defenses
By waves 4 and 5, I began constructing my second row of defenses. As you can see in my screenshots, I gradually filled the available spaces with additional towers.
From waves 6 to 10, my priority was upgrading the offensive towers in my first row to their maximum levels.
And here's something important about my strategy: I didn't upgrade my Honey Traps beyond level 1.
Instead, I spent most of my honey on upgrading the Bee Watchtowers, Pumpkin Cannons, and Spirit Crystals.
My thinking was simple. If I could eliminate the monsters quickly enough, I wouldn't need to rely too heavily on slowing them down.
And surprisingly, it worked!
Waves 11β14: Preparing for the Final Boss
During the succeeding waves, I continued upgrading my second row of towers. By the end of wave 13, I had already maximized the levels of my offensive towers in that section.
At this point, I was quite confident that my defenses could handle most of the monsters.
However, I still remembered how difficult the Honey Devourer was during my previous game.
So instead of becoming too confident, I started preparing additional defenses near the bridge.
After completing wave 14, I finally earned enough honey to construct another Spirit Crystal before the bridge.
This became an important part of my preparation for the final wave.
Wave 15: The Perfect Victory!
And finally, the Honey Devourer arrived!
This was the moment when my entire strategy would be tested. I had already invested heavily in offensive towers, and I didn't want to sell any of them.
As the battle progressed, I also managed to construct another Bee Watchtower after the bridge to strengthen my final line of defense.
And guess what?
I DEFEATED THE HONEY DEVOURER WITHOUT LOSING A SINGLE HEART!!!
My final results were 83,687 points, 15 out of 15 waves completed, and all 20 hearts remaining!
Amazing!!!
What makes this victory even more satisfying is that I didn't have to sell any towers throughout the game. It proved to me that having a well-planned offensive strategy can be just as effective as constantly relocating defenses.
Of course, there's still that one little detail I haven't shared, LOL! I'll leave that for you to discover through your own gameplay.
I'm really thankful to the fellow Hive Town player who shared that helpful tip. It's another example of how engagement within our Hive community can make our experiences even more enjoyable.
