As I'm writing this post, there are only about 1 day 14 hours left before HiveGrove Season 2 ends, and I must say that it's been an exciting journey from Day 1 until now!
I've been actively participating in the leaderboard competition, completing daily missions, and making sure that I never miss a single day. It has been fun, challenging, and sometimes frustrating as well... LOL!
For this post, I'd like to share my experience and some insights into how I've managed to remain among the top three players throughout the season.
How My HiveGrove Journey Started
First of all, I'm not an OG HiveGrove player. I joined during Season 1, and I was already five days late. Because of that, I wasn't able to achieve a good position on the leaderboard. If I remember correctly, I finished around fifth or sixth place.
That experience motivated me to aim higher in Season 2.
What made this goal even more meaningful was a conversation I had with @rainbowdash4l at the Campfire. He mentioned, "Hope we both end up top 3 this season!" and I replied, "Thanks mate. I like that. Let's set that as our goal for this season."
Fast forward to today, and it's amazing to see that we're both still holding our positions in the top three!
Of course, with around 38 hours remaining, anything can still happen. The competition is tight, and we're doing our best to secure our positions until the end.
Personally, I'll be happy whether I finish first, second, or third. What's important is knowing that I did my best to achieve the goal I committed to at the beginning of the season.
How Do the Top Players Achieve Such High Scores?
I've noticed several questions being posted at HiveGrove's Campfire, which is basically the social media section of the game where players can share short posts and interact with one another.
Some players are wondering how the top players accumulate so many points. Are there special strategies? Are players exploiting the system? Or is there something others are missing?
I think these are perfectly valid questions. Since there's no public breakdown of how each player earns their points, it's understandable why people are curious.
I can't speak for the other players, but based on my experience, these are the things I believe matter most:
- Consistency from Day 1. Start early and never miss a day.
- Complete every daily mission. Aim for the maximum possible score whenever you can.
- Have 10 lands and 10 trees. Each tree contributes leaderboard points daily.
- Bring as much luck as possible! Let me explain. LOL!
Most missions can be completed within approximately 30 minutes daily. However, two missions are particularly challenging because their outcomes depend heavily on luck.
Golden Note and Magic Sprout... My Biggest Challenges!
Golden Note is a Radio mission where you need to catch two randomly appearing golden notes while listening to the radio.
Each note rewards between one and three points, meaning you can earn a maximum of six points daily. Over a 30-day season, that's potentially 180 points!
The difference between consistently getting the minimum and maximum scores can be significant.
Then there's Magic Sprout, probably the most frustrating mission I've experienced in HiveGrove. LOL!
Every hour, @hive-grove randomly appears on a Campfire post, giving players an opportunity to enter a lottery for a sprout. There are 24 opportunities daily, but each player can only win one sprout per day.
The reward can be five, ten, or fifteen points.
Sounds easy, right? Well, not really!
There were days when I joined ten or even fifteen draws and still ended up winning nothing. Some nights, this mission even caused me to sleep late because I kept hoping to catch a sprout. Hahaha!
Nevertheless, I consider this part of the competition. Sometimes luck is on your side, and sometimes it isn't. What matters is accepting those unlucky days and trying again the next day.
The Rewards Make the Journey Even Better!
Looking at the current prize pool of 3,532.725 HIVE, I think it's definitely worth putting effort into this competition.
Another aspect I appreciate about HiveGrove is that my investment in trees also generates HIVE rewards. I've chosen to receive my watering rewards as staked HIVE, allowing me to accumulate Hive Power while enjoying the game.
In fact, I've already powered up 20.178 HP through 190 transactions over the past 19 days. Isn't that awesome?
For anyone planning to compete in the upcoming season, my advice is simple: start early, remain consistent, and don't allow unlucky days to discourage you.
Lastly, I want to wish everyone participating in Season 2 all the best! Hopefully, we'll all achieve the goals we've set for ourselves.
