Greetings, Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!
I hope this week has treated you well so far, and that everyone is healthy and happy!
I am quite excited about the fact that it is now the month of October, because October happens to be Black Cat Awareness Month! In other words, this is my own special month!
Black cat awareness month was created as October, not only to increase adoptions of black shelter cats ahead of Halloween, but also as a vessel to help dispell many of the false myths, superstitions and lore surrounding black cats.
I am definitely NOT bad luck!
As you may know, black cats tend to be the last to be adopted from animal shelters, all because people have the wrong impressions of us... all based on old misconceptions.
Although this particular awareness campaign dates back some years, it is now mostly run by the Black Cat Holistic Rescue charity in Los Angeles.
Black cats actually make wonderful and loyal animal companions, and studies have even shown that black cats have the genetics to make them the most mellow and generally loving of all coat patterns.
The annual objective for this month is to get as many black cats as possible adopted from shelters before Halloween.
One way Hoomans can help is to simply be part of busting those old negative myths...
For example, did you know that black cats were particularly revered in ancient Egypt, because they were believed to be divine beings within which the essence of the gods dwelled!
In Japan, black cats are often seen as symbols of prosperity, and therefore highly valued.
Anyway, if you're considering adding a new kitten (or cat) to your household, why not see if there's a little black shelter cat looking for its forever home?
We make very loving companions and we are definitely NOT "witches in disguise" or any of that other nonsense!
We appreciate you coming to visit our little cat blog, and hope to see you again soon... perhaps for Caturday, on Saturday?
Until then, have a beautiful remainder of your week!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communities!
If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?
These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Many of the allow you to share your cat posts, even if you started at a different community!
HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!
Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!
Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!
Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.
There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
