Breaking the Blacklist: My Journey Back to Earning on Hive

For those who have followed my content on Hive over the years, you know I’ve always put effort into sharing unique and creative posts. Whether it’s travel blogs, photography, gaming content, or interesting tech news, I take pride in what I create. But as many of you also know, things haven’t been smooth sailing for me on the platform lately.

Back in August 2024, I took a break from blogging after some of my Gran Turismo 7 posts weren’t well received by parts of the community. That led to me being placed on the @hivewatchers blacklist. It was frustrating, but at the beginning of this year, I decided it was time to do what was necessary to rebuild my standing.

I completed Hive Watcher’s probation requirement — seven posts of original content with all rewards declined. Once I was officially removed from their blacklist, I started posting again with a fresh perspective. I focused on fashion and self portrait photography, sharing detailed breakdowns of my outfits, and honestly, I was excited to be back. I felt a renewed motivation, ready to contribute to the community again.

But just as my first post neared payout, I realized something was still wrong. I was still on another blacklist. Hive Watchers had cleared me, but I remained on @themarkymark / @buildawhale’s zero-rewards blacklist. This means that no matter what I post — whether it’s a full blog or even just a comment — it gets downvoted to zero a day or two before payout.

So, I’m reaching out directly: Marky, please take a moment to review my content again. I have not been half-assing my posts, and I am more than willing to listen to any and all critiques. I’ve been a Hive member since 2017 and have worked hard to contribute meaningful content (yes, with a few moments of laziness here and there, as we all have). Even you have supported my work in the past, which I truly appreciate.

So I have to ask — what can I do to get back to posting and earning within the community? Can my Gran Turismo 7 posts never be forgiven? Or is it possible that you simply haven’t seen the new content I’ve been putting out?

I’m open to dialogue. Please let me know in the comments when you have the time.

yea.. the downvote train.. seems like we both are having that hassle. It's rediculous, cuz i often see other hivers who write like 50 word posts with NO pic at all, and they are never downvoted. of course, they are really high rep, so probable downvoting might not work on them? whatever the case.. downvoting is just bad, since it is abused and not a singl F@W$ seems to be given to properly do it or explain / try to educate hivers who really have no clue.. like me.. 💪😎🤔🤙

These automatic zero rewards blacklists are the bane of Hive and have driven many good people away.

@blocktrades why are you still delegating to buildawhale who downvotes many perfectly legitimate posts from good Hiveans to zero.

I know @offgridlife has been subject to the same poor treatment.
