How are HBD transactions these days? In the past there has been a push for HBD adoption around the globe. Merchants accepting HBD as payment. This especially in places like Venezuela and Cuba, but in other places in Europe as well. The recent increase in the crypto prices might add some fuel as well.
How is this affecting on chain activity. We can take a look at the number of transactions and accounts making transfer. If HBD adoption is increasing this should increase as well.
Let’s take a look.

Here we will be looking at:
- Daily/monthly transactions
- Daily/monthly number of accounts transfering HBD
- Daily/monthly HBD value transfered
- Top accounts by number of transactions and value
The period that we will be looking at starts from the Hive fork back in March 2020 and runs through August 20, 2026.
Number of HBD Transactions
Here is the chart for the data on HBD transactions made per day, updated through August 20, 2026.

As we can see, back in April 2020 this number was low, under 1k HBD transactions daily. It increased afterward, reaching around 3k per day with occasional spikes close to 10k.
We can notice the dip that happened in February 2026, due to the shift in paying authors from liquid HBD to liquid HIVE. After this authors no longer receive rewards in HBD and the activity has dropped. This is due to the fact that the debt limit reached 20%.
In the last 30 days the number of HBD transactions averaged around 300 per day, compared with 408 in the previous 30-day period. Activity ended August 20 at 437 transactions.
When we plot the data on a monthly level we have this:

Here we can see an even clearer trend: an uptrend up to 2022, followed by a period of stagnation and then a decline. Here we can notice the drop in February 2026, after the halt of paying authors in HBD.
The lower activity continued into 2026. Monthly HBD transfers were mostly between 9k and 12k from March through July, with 11k transactions in July 2026.
Number of Accounts Transferring HBD
How many users are transferring HBD per day? Here is the chart.

The trend here is similar to the transactions. At the beginning there were around 200 daily users, followed by growth and then a long decline. The last 30 days averaged around 125 accounts per day, compared with 140 in the previous period.
On a monthly level the chart looks like this:

An uptrend toward 2022 and a downtrend since then. We can see the spike in January 2025 when the MAUs reached 13k. The decline continued into 2026, with around 6k monthly accounts in July 2026.
Transferred HBD Value
What about the amount/value in HBD that has been transferred? Here is the chart for the daily amount of HBD transferred through August 20, 2026.

We can clearly see the spike back in August and September 2021, when the HBD price increased and a lot of arbitrage was happening. There have been a few large spikes since then. In the last 30 days the average was around 30.4k HBD transferred per day, compared with 23.9k in the previous period.
The chart for the monthly HBD transferred through July 2026 looks like this:

Here again we can see the spikes in August and September 2021. More than 20M HBD was transferred in August alone, while September was close to 18M.
In the latest months the transferred volume has remained around or below 1M HBD, with 846.3k HBD moved in July 2026.
Top Accounts
Who is making the most HBD transactions? Here is the chart for the 30 days from July 22 through August 20, 2026.

The @three.legacy account is on top with 1,805 transactions in the last month. @keychain.swap is in second place with 630. @three.claims, and @three.training on the top as well, wonder if this is some play project from @theycallmedan and threespeak.
The above is in terms of the number of operations. What about in terms of value? Users can make a lot of small transactions with HBD, but some can make a fewer transaction but with bigger HBD amounts.
Here is the chart for the top accounts transferring the biggest HBD volume in the 30 days ending August 20, 2026:
CHART @ocl-paymaster is on top with around 190.2k HBD moved in the period, followed by @bd101051256 with 145.2k and @nuttin with 77.7k.
All the best @dalz
