After finally getting my car started after three months of troubleshooting, I found that several components had degraded simply from sitting idle for so long. That is pretty typical, so the plan now is to drive it carefully while constantly checking different parts until I am confident everything is running smoothly again.
Reparando la fuga de agua tras tres meses de inactividad
Tras logras encender mi vehículo luego de tres meses descubriendo el porque hubo partes que debido al tiempo que estuvo parado, sufrieron deterioro por la falta de uso. Esto es algo normal, así que la ideas es usar el carro con precaución, evaluando constantemente varias partes hasta estar seguro que todo está bien para usarlo con tranquilidad.
Three days ago, I took it out for its first test drive and spotted a coolant leak in one of the radiator-to-engine hoses. It is a short section right below the ignition coil, sitting just above the transmission. Access is tight—I had to unbolt the shifter cable bracket just to reach one of the hose clamps.
Hace tres dias sali a dar la primera vuelta y note un fuga de agua en una de manguera que viene del radiador al motor. Es una pequeña sección debajo de la bobina, apenas ligeramente por encima de la caja de cambios. El acceso es complicado, debo desajuste el soporte de las guayas que viene de la palanca de cambios para poder tener acceso a una de las abrazaderas.
As you can see, I had to rig up a temporary splice just so I could drive the car and go buy a replacement hose the next day. It was not easy; I ended up working late into the night trying to get it to seat properly since the hose had lost its original molded bend. In the end, though, I made it work and picked up the new hose.
En la siguiente imagen se puede apreciar como tuve que inventar un empalme, a fin de poder conducir de nuevo y salir a comprar la manguera al día siguiente. No salió muy bien, termine hasta alta horas de la noche para poder calzarla, ya que perdió su curvatura. Pero al final pude salir y conseguir la nueva manguera.
Installing the new one was no walk in the park either, as the top hose clamp kept interfering with one of the shifter cables. Once again, I had to unbolt the cable bracket to get it into position. It is amazing how such a small, seemingly simple job ended up taking so much time to wrap up.
Calzar la nueva tampoco fue tan sencillo, ya que la abrazadera de la parte superior cocha con una de las guayas de cambios. Nuevamente tuve que desajustar el soporte para poder calzarla, es increíble como algo tan pequeño y aparentemente fácil, tomó tanto tiempo de reemplazar.
Now I just have a few details left to iron out—like the brakes. The pedal goes all the way to the floor, and it only builds pressure after pumping it a few times. It could be low brake fluid, or a leak might have developed somewhere in the system while it was sitting. I will tackle that next.
Ya solo me quedan ajustar uno detalles, por ejemplo los frenos, que el pedal se va a fondo y solo tras pisarlo varias veces, es que aplica. Puede que se trate de falta de liga para frenos o por el tiempo parado haya fuga en alguna parte del sistema, ya lo resolveré luego.
