It's funny how one minute you're witnessing the start of something and before you know it, the ending has approached or is approaching. That's something about life. You could be so expecting or anticipating a thing that all you could care about is it coming around, but not about how that will come to an end at some point. Well, in some cases and with some people, there are times and instances where the end is actually considered.
Some time last year; at the end of the year of course, we were all looking forward to a new year. Counting down the days, you could say. People made wishes and plans for the next year. Some making resolutions. Some probably walked into the year with some hope and belief that it would bring something good and maybe a life turnaround. Whether the end of the year is considered or not, it comes, and here we are in the last days.
The last days of 2026 are fast approaching, and it's quite interesting that the new year is now old and passing. But if one thing life has shown is that beyond the number of days counted, there are things within the first and last day of the year that make it go beyond the number of days, weeks and months experienced and lived. And whether it's just okay or not, you can agree that these thoughts and considerations come within the last days of the year.
We're in the last days of the year as it slowly runs to an end, with less than 90 days remaining to close out yet another cycle. Many things happened, from personal to general, commendable to controversial, locally to nationally and internationally. Also, good and bad, right and wrong, successful and failed, beautiful and horrific, all make up the events and happenings contained within the year. Some go on to remain notable for different reasons.
Such things come to mind in remembrance as the year ends. Something important to count and reflect on from my end especially is the need to be grateful. We're quick to complain as humans when things don't go our way or even when a little thing goes wrong. In the process, we forget all the good and thus fail to be grateful. Agreed, there are things that could make a person angry and bitter, but we should try to be grateful in life.
The modern world and society have especially indoctrinated us to only see reason to be grateful when we again, acquire or enjoy material benefits. Often ignoring the things that matter more; that we people who love and care for us, we have good health, and ultimately we have life itself. It goes beyond that when we have other reasons outside these; that are material and we need to be grateful for those as well.
That's important and worthy of note. And through continuous writing on this space, I've seen growth in my writing skills. Something to count as well for me. As the year draws to a close, we'll soon be looking forward to another. But before that, we look to that which the remainder of the year has to bring or offer. Well, I hope to get some unfinished business done, achieve more and be a lot more grateful for that which I already have.
