Wez froze completely when he heard that boy's voice. The paper was still on the floor, so he picked it up and examined it again, hoping to find another clue; however, there was nothing. He whispered, "Why can't I remember?" but no one answered. The melody had vanished, leaving behind an eerie silence. The setting changed, too; everything went dark, the photographs fell, and a single wooden door appeared—the exact same door he had seen in his memory, featuring five vertical slits running through the wood.
Wez was frightened, yet he slowly moved forward, taking shorter and shorter steps. With every step, a memory flashed into his mind: a dark room, rain falling somewhere, a girl sitting on the floor, the sound of a guitar, a man saying something he couldn't quite hear, and finally, the image of a boy—the same boy who had appeared hiding behind the guitarist. At that moment, Wez closed his eyes and could finally see the boy in greater detail: he was wearing a dark shirt and long trousers, and in his hands, he held a wooden box—the very same box his mother had kept for years.
Upon opening his eyes, he found himself standing before that door and heard a voice ask once more, "What is your relationship with yourself?" yet, once again, there was no one there. However, a phrase appeared above the door: NOT EVERYTHING YOU REMEMBER BELONGS TO YOU. Wez touched the wall out of curiosity and everything shook; the door’s five slots began to light up, and his bag started to glow. He realized he had a key inside—one bearing exactly five marks—but just as he was about to open the door, he heard the boy’s voice again: "Don't open it if you still want to believe you left of your own free will."
Wez paused, remembering the room he had once been in: rain battering the window, a girl crying, and a guitarist arguing with a third man. That young man had wanted to leave, but then came five knocks on the door. Startled, Wez realized that this door wasn't the entrance to a place he needed to discover, but to one he already knew. He turned the key, and the door slowly swung open, revealing not a room on the other side, but a dark corridor with the figure of a boy standing in the distance.
He walked forward and saw that the boy was holding the wooden box. Although the boy's face remained shrouded in shadow, Wez immediately recognized the voice as it said, "You're late." Wez froze, but the boy lifted the box and remarked, "I am the part of you that stayed behind." At that moment, the melody played again, and Wez grasped something he hadn't noticed before: the song wasn't being played to help him recall where he had heard it, but to show him where to look for the next memory. The first note rang out from the left, the second from the right, the third from behind him, and the fourth right before his eyes; yet the boy was gone, leaving only the small box on the ground. Wez approached it; there was no physical object inside, only a sound—specifically, five chimes—that caused the five key-shaped marks to light up once more. Wez looked at the box and realized that this was not the end of his memory, but the beginning, for now several questions arose: Who had locked that memory inside the box, and why had they wanted Wez to forget that he had ever been there?
