Wez was completely taken aback and recoiled upon seeing the man’s face; furthermore, the music that emerged in the background made the whole situation feel far more dangerous. The man was identical to him, and Wez immediately asked, "Who are you?" The man looked at him in silence, as if he knew a great deal, and then said aloud, "I am what remained of you after that night"—though no one else present believed this answer.
Wez kept asking questions, and I drew attention once more to that wooden box—which, at that very moment, made a sound, as if someone were striking it. Suddenly, an image appeared: the guitarist was arguing with a third man, while little Wez sat by the door. A young girl was holding a key—something no one else seemed to notice—but the image lasted only a few seconds before vanishing. Wez fell to his knees, realizing that what had happened that night was far worse than he had imagined. In a hushed voice, he asked, "What song did they play? Who died that night?"
There seemed to be no answer to his questions, yet the man remained, replying instantly: "You." Wez was stunned—it was impossible—and a heavy silence fell over everyone. Wez looked at the box again and discovered a photograph he hadn't seen before. It showed five people standing in front of the old house, but one of them had been crossed out with black ink. On the back of the photo, a message was written: "The boy we buried was not Wez." It was a complete mystery—and just then, three knocks sounded at the door: knock, knock, knock. A voice—identical to his own—spoke up: "Wez, don't listen to that man. He knows who died that night, because he was the one who took your place." Wez was terrified, but the man just smiled. "It’s about time we met again." Then, a new voice called out from the background: "Wez, remember—which one of you was five years old when he died?"
