Everyone kept laughing, as if something major were about to begin. Charlie glanced at the screens once more and, on one of them, spotted an image of a small boy holding a violin—it was him, but much younger. Beneath the image was a short phrase: "Don't you remember me yet?" Charlie, however, wasn't certain. The little boy then spoke: "I am the Charlie whom everyone tried to erase"—words that left everyone stunned, as this was completely different from anything the young man had ever known.
On the other side of the glass was his friend Sofía, who kept shouting, "Charlie, don't listen to him! We have to get out of here!" Lucas, also on the other side, sensed that something was wrong, and so he finally confessed, "This was bound to happen. When we helped you forget, it wasn't to protect you from your past—it was to keep you from discovering what really happened that night." Charlie couldn't believe it; this was his best friend, yet he had never mentioned any of this. Desperately, he shouted, "Then tell me what happened!"
Everything was happening very quickly, and before Lucas could respond, all the screens lit up. A new message appeared, accompanied by the sound of a violin—just the way the little boy liked it—ORIGINAL FILE RECOVERED: THE FIRST CHARLIE WAS NEVER THE ONLY ONE. Sofía looked at Lucas, completely bewildered, as everything had suddenly changed. In a hushed voice, she asked, "What does that mean?" Just then, one of the doors in the labyrinth opened, and a boy appeared, holding a small violin. He had the exact same face as Charlie. "Hello, Charlie," he said. "At last, we can be together again." Charlie stood frozen, while Lucas began pounding on the glass. A new phrase flashed across the screen: "NO! HE SHOULDN'T HAVE WOKEN UP YET!" The little boy looked toward Lucas and replied, "Take it easy, Lucas. I remember what you did that night." Stranger still, the music continued, and another message appeared on the computer: PHASE TWO COMPLETE. PHASE THREE: DISCOVER THE TRUE TRAITOR.
