The sound in the forest was getting louder and louder, but the strange thing was that it wasn’t the violin, it wasn’t the guitar—it was like three very loud notes. Wez couldn’t identify the sound; besides, the shadows were gone, and the only thing nearby was that room with the guitar on the chair and that photograph—the date still visible—in his hands. However, he recalled the date again and remembered that someone had been trying to remember that night, as if someone had already been there.
Wez left the room and noticed a bluish light among the trees; the sound also seemed to be coming from there, where the three notes that rang out caused the three marks on the key to light up. However, everything changed when a fourth mark appeared on the key—something completely new that also glowed—and at that moment, the sound changed. It was no longer three notes, but the very same melody from the cemetery. Wez felt afraid and ran because he needed to go somewhere quieter.
As he walked on, he came to a spot where there was a stone bench with some symbols on it, as well as a book covered in dirt with some pages torn out. Wez walked over and noticed a small inscription that read “FOR HER.” However, when he opened it, he saw that the first few pages were filled with chords and musical notations—which he recognized. The next page contained a melody, and the last page had a short note that read, “If he couldn’t finish it, I will,” a phrase with a different date. The strangest thing was that beneath it was another phrase: “But I can’t write the ending without remembering what happened.”
Wez felt afraid, and once again the melody played; it was as if the book had a life of its own. At that moment, the pages began turning on their own until they stopped on one that read, “The end is where the silence began.” The young man didn’t understand, and very close to those stones, the light appeared once more. Wez walked toward it, and as he drew closer, he heard a girl’s voice: “Are you still looking for the last note?” At that moment, a girl’s face appeared, and the fourth mark on the key lit up.
Wez took a step back, and the two began talking—it was a chance to clear up any doubts—but several sounds could be heard, as if something were being transmitted. Seconds later, the girl disappeared; the forest fell silent, and the blank page was no longer blank—a new phrase appeared: “If you want to know who finished the song, look for the man who could never play it.” At that moment, Wez realized that the person who had written the rest of the melody wasn’t the guitarist, wasn’t the girl—it was someone who had been there that night, someone who knew everything perfectly well. Until a fifth mark appeared on the key.
