I Need to Have a Moan

Before you start berating people, it's a good idea to get the full facts first.

Yes, I know, probably the less confrontational approach would have been to say, "Excuse me, I was expecting some tablets, and they haven't arrived." But in my defence, I'm getting a bit stressed with my mounting medical conditions. I'm starting to think I need to wear a badge like the signs you see on cars.

Not all disabilities can be seen!

Me: "Hi, are you the pharmacist?"

Pharmacist: "Yes."

Me: "I need to have a moan."

Pharmacist: "Oh! You'd better come in here."

Me: "I came in on Friday last week and ordered my tablets, and it's nearly a week, and I haven't had them! I knew it was a bad idea when one of your staff wrote it on a scrap of paper!"

Pharmacist: "Actually, they have put it on; see, it's here on the computer. It's just that the doctor hasn't signed it."

Me: "Oh? Um? Ooh? Sorry"

Pharmacist: "I'll go over personally and get it signed off."

Me: "Don't I feel in the wrong."

I'd just come from the doctor's, having had bloods taken this morning for testing. I'm at the stage now where 'testing' is an utter nightmare. Every test I've had so far for various things has been the same.

"I'm ever so sorry but the results have come back positive and we need to discuss your treatment."

I hope you're okay mate. I am reluctant to have a go at people unless they are obviously incompetent or rude. Most of us work in systems where we have to follow procedures and sometimes things get messed up. I'm sure those in the health world have to deal with a lot of anxious people.

A while back someone who had some issues with the NHS walked into our local health centre and started smashing the place up with a baseball bat! I don't think anyone got hurt, but nobody should have to put up with that.
