Over the last few days, I’ve been implementing a new feature—which I’ll soon be deploying to production—that is integrated into my admin panel. I’ve also been conducting extensive testing for this feature, which allows users to subscribe to receive email notifications about job openings tailored to their specific profiles, whether for remote, hybrid, or on-site roles.
I do this with the goal of helping the community, with the long-term aim of developing a sustainable product. It has its pros and cons: the advantage is that almost no one else does this—manually searching for job openings, verifying that they haven’t expired, ensuring they aren’t from "ghost" (fake) companies, and making sure that applicants have the chance to apply for something legitimate. The downside is that it is very labor-intensive; it requires a great deal of attention and many hours of work—testing different search methods, visiting job boards in other countries, and verifying whether a company has a genuine website with a dedicated careers section for direct applications. At times, it becomes tedious and exhausting, especially since job postings often appear repeatedly, over and over again.
We’ve reached a point where you might see the same job opening posted by 10 different recruitment agencies—it’s frustrating. I want to post genuine vacancies, not keep repeating the same opportunity over and over, which just creates a sort of bubble that’s bound to burst at any moment. In the coming days, I’ll finally be launching this new feature on the other site. We’ll be ironing out a few things along the way—there’s still plenty to do, like testing—but that’s just how it goes; nothing ventured, nothing gained.
