Hello everyone!
My husband has always loved the farm. If there is something we can grow, plant, or raise, he is always excited to try it. That is how our small fishpond started.
At first, it was really just a small pond. Our plan was simple: raise catfish mainly for our family’s food. I thought it was a good idea, but honestly, I was not very excited about it. Why? Because I was thinking about the cost of feeds.

As the months and years passed, however, our small pond became bigger, and we started raising more catfish. My husband always told me that having a fishpond can be useful because it gives us another source of food.
And I slowly understood his point.

If you are planning to start your own small fishpond, my biggest lesson is this: start according to what you can manage. You do not need a very big pond right away. Start small, learn how to care for the fish, and understand your expenses first.
Feeds are one of the important things to consider. Before starting, calculate how much you may spend on feeds, pond maintenance, water, and other needs. Having your own fish does not always mean it is cheaper, especially if the fish are growing in large numbers. But there are also benefits beyond money.

For us, it is convenient to have catfish nearby. When we don't know what to prepare for a meal, my husband can simply catch some from the pond. We can clean them, season them, and enjoy freshly grilled catfish.

I am already used to cleaning fish, and my daughter really helps me. It is a simple task, but I love that she is learning something from our farm life.

So, if you dream of having a fishpond, don't be afraid to start small. Learn first, be patient, watch your expenses, and most importantly, enjoy the process.

A fishpond is not just about raising fish. It can also teach your family about patience, responsibility, food, and the value of hard work.

Thank you for reading my story, For me, my husband's fishpond idea may not have been my priority at first, but now, I can see why he believed in it.
