Hello everyone!
Today, I want to share some pictures of the flowers in our garden. Some of these flowers were planted by me when I was still single. Until now, my mother is the one taking care of them. It makes me happy to see that some are still alive after all these years like a decade.
Before, I loved collecting orchids. I remember buying them for around 100 pesos per root. My father also loves orchids, so maybe I inherited my interest in them from him. But I am not good at taking care of orchids. Hahaha! My sister loves them so much that she even has her own orchid garden. As for me, I just put some of my orchids on the trees and let them grow there. At least I can still enjoy them whenever I see them around our place.
My mother also loves flowering plants. Every Sunday, she picks flowers from our garden to bring to church as an offering. Whenever there are birthdays, people can also get flowers from our garden. I think this is one reason my mother enjoys taking care of them. She can use the flowers for different occasions without needing to buy them.
We have different varieties of lilies, too. Some are orange, while others are white. The white lilies in my pictures now bloomed, and I think they would look nice in a bouquet. But they do not always produce flowers. Sometimes they bloom, and sometimes we have to wait again for the next season. In our garden it bloom only twice a year.
Among all the flowers I collected before, daisies were one of my favorites. When I was still working in an office, I loved buying different colors, especially the double-flowered varieties. I usually spent around 100 pesos or almost 2 dollars for a plant.
Sometimes, whenever we went out to survey or visit clients, I would buy daisies if I saw some along the way. There were also people who gave me flowers for free. Maybe they wanted their loan applications to be approved faster! Hahaha! Just kidding. I was simply happy whenever I found another daisy to add to my collection.
When the pandemic happened, I was no longer staying here, so I could not take care of my plants. Many people came to our place, and my mother sold some of them. Still, I am happy because some of my daisies survived until now.
Looking at these flowers now I remember of my younger years, when I had more time for my hobbies. Now, I cannot always spend time gardening like before, so I appreciate my mother for continuing to care for the plants I left behind.
I learned that collecting plants is not only about buying them. We also need time and patience to keep them growing. Sometimes, our lives change, and we cannot take care of everything ourselves. It is a good thing when someone in the family helps preserve the things we once loved.
I hope to collect more daisies and other flowers again when I have more time.
How about you? Do you still have plants that you collected years ago? 🌿💮🪻🌼🌸
