Time flies.

I can't believe that I said "see you soon" almost three months ago, and the time has flown by. So much has happened in those three months, and I've really missed the day to day interaction with dreemers.

So what have I been doing in my "spare time". Thinking long and hard about what we're doing here. Here where? Online... Hive... Life. Don't you wonder the same thing? I feel like right before I left for my sabbatical, I was hearing a lot of the same thoughts, and they were resonating with me. A few people joined into conversation with me, sharing their struggles, their frustrations - not only with the content they were seeing on DreemPort - but everywhere. It felt like the content all over the internet, media, socials - everything was just sinking into a sea of meaningless noise.

I found myself asking - what are we doing here?

I asked it over and over, and I knew I needed to step away to remind myself about what we were doing, why we were doing it, and how we were aiming to be set apart from the rest.

I love our fun, our games, our silliness, our rewards, our connection, our collabs, our "attractiveness" - but I felt that was overshadowing the very core of what we were attempting to do.

So over the last few months, I toyed with some changes. For a bit, they frightened me. It felt like I would be making things less attractive to the masses. And then I realized, that's exactly what I wanted to do. THAT is what was making us veer away from our vision. We were becoming attractive to people who were able to use/abuse dreemers for their own gain, leaving less for the actual true dreemers.

When I thought of it that way, it didn't scare me anymore. I want DreemPort to be "boring and unappealing" for people who are there for the wrong reasons. I want it to chase them away so we see less of them. I want more of the goodness to apply to the people who are actually wanting to be different and stand apart from the ever-rising tides of distraction. So things will be changing.

If our community shrinks - that's good.

I've always said, I would rather a handful of solid, interesting content creators than thousands of boring, lackluster creators shoveling their garbage down our throats.

For an opportunity to discuss some of the ways that we're course-correcting, you're welcome to join us at the WorldBuilding Expo where content creators will be invited to connect with other like-minded innovators. The theme for our booth will be "Making it Matter", where we will invite content creators (especially our dreemers) to challenge themselves to elevate their content to its most meaningful state. We're looking forward to sharing the upcoming changes in DreemPort and invite you to be a part of it!

Just registered for the expo and hopefully I will catch some or all of it.

Great news seeing you back, and am intrigued to what your vision of dreemport now is. Hive and its associated projects just seem to plod along rudderless with people just seeing how they can line their own pockets.

Everyone wants to be a content creator yet nobody wants to consume it on Hive.

Anyway sorry to hear you had calamities and hope you managed to get some rest Dreemie.

I don't know which words to use precisely but I'm definitely sure it feels good to have you back. Hope you got all the rest you needed on your sabbatical leave, though I'm aware that you were busy using your precious sabbatical leave to think about innovative ideas for dreemport.

It seems you have finally found the answers you were looking for, it is good to have some changes around here. This brings back memories from creative work hour which changed the perspective of most dreemer about content creation till today.

I look forward to partaking in this event, I'm always glad to learn a thing or two about how to improve as an author.

Life is all about change, and I personally know that for us to grow, we must strive to be a better version of who we are or what we plan for and this is a right step to that, I'm so excited about this update. As I read your post, I said, “Amen, sister” outloud at least three times. My favorite part, is this:

It is crystal clear to me The DreemPort values are deeply rooted in love and trust. I am so proud of the Dreemers and how they represent one another on Hive and on #pypt in particular.

It sounds like your Sabbatical brought insights and a refreshed perspective. There’s something beneficial about a three-month break. It affords one a season to observe rather than cultivate. Then, with fresh clean air, approach the next season.
