They Told Me to Wait 3 Days. Two Weeks Later, Nothing Had Happened

Remember my post about taking out a loan to buy a wedding gift for my wife?

I wrote that post after visiting the bank to start the process of retrieving the "gift"—which was being kept in their vault. At the time, the staff member I spoke with said it would take 3–4 days to handle the paperwork and other formalities.

She said she would contact me as soon as the gold was ready for pickup.

While waiting for the call, I went about my daily routine. Because I was so busy, I actually forgot about their promise to get in touch.

It wasn't until a week ago—13 days after my initial visit—that I remembered. I still hadn't heard from them, so I decided to go back to the bank.

"I’d like to collect my collateral," I said to the bank staff.
"Please wait a moment, sir. Let me check," said the staff member assisting me.

The staff member I had met two weeks prior wasn't in the office this time. I remembered clearly how she had asked for my ID, printed out my loan details, and jotted down my phone number on that same sheet of paper.

She had even consulted with—presumably—her supervisor regarding my collateral, which consisted of precious metals.

"Since your collateral is precious metal, we have to process the retrieval from our vault located at another site."
"It will take 3–4 days. We’ll contact you once the item is ready."

That was the information I received back then.

As it turned out...

After looking into it, they couldn't find the printed document, and my collateral hadn't even been retrieved from the vault yet.

What the H***

In the end, I had to start the process all over again. I was promised a follow-up call on Monday, August 24th, because the superior authorized to open the vault was on leave.

Yesterday, I received a text message saying that the superior had been sent on an out-of-town assignment that day. So, I have to wait even longer—until he return this coming Friday.

Good grief... I have to wait another whole week.

It’s a good thing I decided to go back to the bank last week. If I were to simply wait for a call from them, it would undoubtedly be a fruitless wait.

I have no idea where the document printed at the time has gone. Unfortunately, I have no proof that I actually visited them earlier this August. At the very least, I would have had evidence to back up my frustration with their service.
