Greetings to my amazing friends of the Scrobblelife community. Today I want to share my review of a movie titled Brother Efosa. The movie is about a brother who was given the responsibility of taking care of his three sisters after their father died, but as time went on, taking care of his sisters became a very difficult responsibility for him.
Brother Efosa had three sisters, and at the beginning of the movie, their father was very sick and had been taken to the hospital. Before he died, he called all his children together and told his son Efosa that he was not going to survive. The only thing he wanted from him was to take care of his sisters. Immediately after their father said this, Efosa told him not to talk like that because he believed he would not die. The children did not know that their father would pass away so soon, but a short time later, their father died. They all cried and felt the pain of losing their father.
A few weeks after their father died, Efosa called all his sisters together. He encouraged them and reminded them of what their father had told him before he died. He told them that he had to take care of them and that he did not want them to misbehave. Efosa really took his father's words seriously and wanted to make sure his sisters grew up well.
But unfortunately, his sisters started giving him trouble day by day. They were doing many of the things he did not want them to do. Efosa tried his best to encourage them, but he was also very strict with them. He warned them not to follow just any man and did not want them going outside too much. He was always trying to control them and put them on the right path, but his sisters kept choosing the path he did not want for them.
Efosa did not allow his sisters to stay with any man. He told them that they had to wait until they were 30 years old before they could start staying with men. The sisters were very angry about this because they saw themselves as grown women and could not understand why their brother would not allow them to have relationships. Anytime one of them brought a man into the house, Efosa would chase the man out.
For this particular part, I don't think Efosa was doing the right thing. I understand that he was trying to protect his sisters and keep the promise he made to their father, but being too strict can also create another problem. A lady can grow up and still need to make her own decisions about relationships. Even the eldest sister was already grown, but Efosa still did not give her the freedom to have a relationship. So for me, I don't think this part was right, even though I understand that he was doing it because he believed he was disciplining them and protecting them.
One day, Efosa went outside to meet a friend, and when he came back home, he saw his three sisters holding banners. They were protesting against him and saying, "Efosa, no more harassment! We want our freedom. Enough is enough!" Efosa was absolutely shocked when he saw them doing this. He could not believe that his own sisters were standing against him like that, but they kept shouting and telling him that he should set them free.
After some time, the youngest of the three sisters became very sick, so they rushed her to the hospital. After the doctors examined her, they discovered that she was four weeks pregnant. When the doctor told Efosa, he was extremely disappointed and shocked. After all the discipline and warnings he had been giving them, he could not believe that his sister had become pregnant. He became very disturbed because he felt like everything he had been doing was not working.
Immediately after they got home, something else happened. The other sister whom Efosa thought was the most well-behaved among them was also hiding something. She always acted like she was a very good and godly person who did not go close to men. Everyone in the house believed she was the most disciplined one. Unfortunately, the senior sister later caught her vomiting, and they eventually discovered that she was also pregnant.
Efosa felt ashamed of himself. He started telling himself that maybe, as a brother, he had failed to do what their father asked him to do. But honestly, I don't think Efosa did not care about his sisters. He really tried to take care of them, but he took a very rough approach. He made them fear him and controlled them too strictly. He believed that if he was harsh enough with them, they would eventually change. Unfortunately, things went the opposite way, and even the sister he thought was the most precious and well-behaved disappointed him.
The most important thing was that the men who got Efosa's sisters pregnant actually loved them genuinely. They were not trying to use them or destroy their lives. They were only scared because Efosa never gave them the opportunity to come forward and show that they truly loved his sisters. The two men who got the two sisters pregnant eventually came together, apologized for what happened and asked Efosa for their hands in marriage. This time, Efosa agreed, and everyone became happy that the sisters would finally be able to meet with their husbands.
For me, Brother Efosa was an interesting movie because it showed how difficult it can be when someone is trying so hard to protect the people they love. I understand Efosa because he was trying to keep the promise he made to his father, and he genuinely wanted the best for his sisters. But I also feel that he became too controlling and did not give them enough chance to make their own decisions. Sometimes, protecting someone does not mean controlling every part of their life. I enjoyed watching the movie because it made me think about the difference between discipline, protection and giving people the freedom to make their own choices.
