Hello everyone, welcome to the Scrobblelife community. Today, I want to share a review of a movie titled My Housemate. I watched this movie yesterday, and I found it very interesting and fun to watch. There are some parts of the movie that I really enjoyed, and I want to share them with you.
The movie is about two housemates. At the beginning of the movie, a lady bought a house through her friend. Before she bought the house, there was already a man from Ghana who had rented the same apartment for three months and had paid his rent. The man did not know that another person had already bought the house completely. The most surprising thing was that neither of them knew the other person was inside the house. The lady who bought the house was in the bathroom taking her bath when the man entered. Immediately they saw each other in the same house, they were both shocked because they had never met before.
They immediately started arguing and asking each other questions. The man said he had rented the house for three months, while the lady insisted that the house belonged to her because she had already bought it. They both started fighting and telling each other to leave the house, but neither of them wanted to leave because they both wanted to stand their ground.
Actually, the way I see this situation, neither of them was really to blame. The person who rented the apartment to the man and also sold it to the lady was the one to blame because she did not tell the man that someone else had bought the house. She had already rented it to him, and this was the main reason the two housemates kept fighting.
These two housemates were living like enemies in the same house. There was no peace between them because they kept quarrelling every hour and every minute. The neighbours in the estate became tired of their noise. At some point, one of the neighbours came to talk to the lady. She told her that she understood that she was with her boyfriend, but that did not give her the right to keep making the environment noisy. She asked her to please reduce her voice, no matter what issue she was having with her boyfriend.
The lady was completely shocked when she heard the neighbour call the man her boyfriend. She immediately stopped her and explained that the man was just a stranger who refused to leave her house. She even called him a stupid man. As soon as the other housemate heard this, he stepped in and asked her who was the stupid one. This was how they continued fighting in the house. The neighbour who had come to complain about the noise saw what was happening and did not even know what to say. She eventually left because she was completely shocked by the noise and the way the two of them were behaving.
These two housemates took their fight to another level. At one point, the lady wanted to cook, but the man entered the kitchen and saw that she was using his foodstuffs. He immediately started shouting at her, asking why she had taken his foodstuffs and was using them to cook. The woman was surprised that the man could be so unreasonable, but she did not keep quiet either. She also responded to him with insults. They were both ready to give each other the same treatment.
I think both of them were somehow developing feelings for each other, but their constant fighting was making it difficult for those feelings to show. The reason I think so is that the lady had a boyfriend who had been cheating on her and had eventually broken her heart. Meanwhile, the man also had a girlfriend whom he suspected of scamming him because he had sent her money to come and meet him, but she never showed up.
At some point, the two housemates started developing stronger feelings for each other and became friends. They began playing and having fun together. Then something surprising happened: the girlfriend whom the man had thought was fake suddenly showed up at the house. At first, the man told her that things were not what she thought and explained that the lady was just his sister.
The girlfriend initially accepted his explanation and stayed with him. However, one day, she saw the two housemates having a conversation in which the man was telling the lady that he genuinely loved her. The girlfriend overheard everything and became very upset. She told them that she would not leave the house and would not allow anybody to take her boyfriend away from her. The reason she reacted this way was that she believed the man was rich. They had been communicating online, and since they had never met face-to-face, he had told her that he was a very rich man with many houses. But when the man finally met her, he explained that he was actually poor, had lost his job, and had only ₦50,000 in his account. He even told her that the house he was staying in belonged to his housemate.
When the online girlfriend heard this, she packed her things and left the house because she said she could not be with a poor man. That was how she left, but the funniest part was that, after a few minutes, she came back and asked him to give her transport money! 😂 I found that part very funny because she had just left him because she thought he was poor, yet she still came back to ask him for money.
After the girlfriend left, the two housemates became very close friends. The man also apologised to the lady for the way he had handled the situation with his girlfriend. She accepted his apology because she also had strong feelings for him.
The sweetest part was when the man asked for her hand in marriage. She gladly agreed because she was also in love with him. However, before accepting his proposal, she asked him whether it was not too early for them to get married. He then said something that I really loved. It was a proverb that made a lot of sense to me:
***"When a man sees his wife, he knows."***
The most surprising thing was that the man was not actually broke. He was a very rich man who had only pretended to be poor because he wanted to find a woman who would love him for who he was, not for his money. His former girlfriend left him as soon as he said he was broke, but his housemate stayed with him and loved him even when she believed he had nothing. This made him love her even more. He bought her a very big house to live in and also bought her a car. He promised that he would marry her because his love for her was so strong. His housemate was completely shocked when she discovered the truth, and she was very happy that she had found a man who genuinely loved her just as she was.
Sincerely, I really enjoyed every moment of watching this movie yesterday. It is not just a movie to watch for fun; it also has a lesson for me. This movie teaches me to always look for a partner who genuinely loves me for who I am, not for what I have. To me, true love should not depend on how much money someone has. What matters most is finding someone who will stay with you and love you even when they think you have nothing.
