I haven't written in over a month, even though Hive Blockchain is always on my mind and, of course, in my heart. Hive Blockchain as a technology is a digital space of my own that I share with all kinds of people. I'm no one to judge what they do or post after all, it's just another digital medium. Some value it, others take advantage of it, and others want to push it forward so it can be the best. People talk about freedom.
But anyway, moving past that first paragraph of practice to see how I connect my ideas; experts say that writing helps you vent, to release what we carry inside. It has been almost two weeks since that terrible day, June 24, 2026, when an earthquake struck my country. It left greater or lesser misfortune in different places, but in my heart, there is a massive fracture from seeing how it left a void in so many Venezuelan families.
Yes, a lot was lost in La Guaira State. But after seeing, reading, and hearing so much from a society that has treated this event as something more sensationalized than human, I am completely sure of one thing. Those people each and every one who takes or took this event as if it were nothing, I am sure they are walking this world completely dead inside today. It is better to stay silent out of respect for the pain and sadness that many of us carry. Personally, it makes me sad to know there is so much pain.
But let's see, it seems like every digital corner is taken over by tech idiots who don't analyze things before reacting. People preach about showing more empathy, but we have to wonder if they actually know what empathy really means. Doing things just to show off what they don't even believe in themselves; honestly, we need more common sense, less human misery, and more reflection. Money doesn't make us better people; it's just a tool that reveals who you truly are.
Those photos are from La Guaira, from quite a while ago. Today, I have no idea if that little spot still exists. I think that for me to go back there, I will have to summon a lot of courage. My respect goes out to every person who is still out there today, giving everything to find someone.
The hearts of many Venezuelans are strong and brave, and I am sure we can overcome this hardship. Once again, it is time to do whatever it takes to move forward.
To accept the past and build a present, while being grateful for the life that allows me this moment to write today. A hug to @carisma77 and @natalimcr27, who are going through a difficult situation right now.
How did I experience it? I had just showered a few minutes prior and was wearing comfortable clothes for a day off. I was sitting in front of my computer, about to do something, when it started to shake. As soon as it passed the 5-second mark, my mind went on alert and I told myself, "this isn't normal." I ran to look for my sister in her room and she was frozen with fear, it must have been 10 seconds by then. I took her hand and ran with her in search of a safe place. I only saw a thick beam near the apartment exit; we huddled there, hugging each other. She was crying and I was praying to "Our Father..." As the seconds ticked by, the building swayed like a baby's crib when a mother fell asleep. The Earth spoke with the most intense rumbling my ears have ever heard, like a tree splitting in two. I finished praying and the shaking still continued; I only thought of my family, and then I thought it was the last moment of my life. Everything stopped. People were screaming. I grabbed two jackets and we left the apartment. Our neighbor, an elderly lady, was crying and couldn't open her door. All I could do was repeat, "Open up, let's go!" over and over. When she finally opened the door, she walked down the stairs with me. My sister had already gone down, but I couldn't leave my neighbor alone. The worst experience.
I am deeply grateful to God, because He was always with me, in my mind and in my actions. I had never experienced so much stress as I did that June 24, 2026, nor had I ever helped someone in an emergency situation. I can't even imagine what they went through in La Guaira.
I forgot to mention that @danielvehe came to the building. THANK YOU Dany for remembering me, for being there, and for that comforting hug that said, “We’re alive.”
May all the souls who have left this world rest in peace, especially those taken by the June 24th Earthquake.
I'm inspired by EnmyMind every day 🥳
