¡Saludos chicos!

Hi everyone!
I wanted to play a horror game – but not one that was too scary – to get into the spirit of the season. It turned out to have some rather gruesome imagery for my taste, but if this sort of game appeals to you, I’d recommend it; you’ll be entertained for hours or even days trying to rescue the character, though the graphics are a bit dark.
Tormentum: Dark Sorrow is the first instalment in this series; it’s a puzzle and strategy game available on PC and Android. You don’t need a top-of-the-range phone to play it, nor a high-end gaming computer – with an i3 or better, 4 GB of RAM and a graphics card with around 1 GB of VRAM, you can play it without any lag.
I wanted to give it a go because it seemed to me to be somewhat inspired by Dark Souls, an Xbox 360 game; however, it’s nothing like it at all. It’s a puzzle game, and you really do have to rack your brains trying to figure out how to tackle each challenge.

Our character has been kidnapped by some barbarians and has lost his memory; he wakes up in a cage hanging from an airship, with another cage beside him containing another hostage, who does, however, remember what happened to him. These are two different stories, and the aim is to try to rescue our character and help him regain his memory.
There are plenty of challenging riddles to solve, along with puzzles featuring images that are quite obscure yet entertaining. What could have happened? We don’t know; our character thinks it’s a punishment. Together, we’re going to figure it out.
We’re in a cell; we’ll search the area to see what we can find to help us open the door mechanism.

The items that can help us solve this puzzle are: the skeleton’s hand, the stone the raven is holding in its beak, a metal piece, and a drawing on the wall that we need to memorise.
The raven is friendly; it hands us the stone without much fuss, but the mechanism on the door has some cogs that need to be set in the right position so that they turn.

Once we’ve positioned the gears correctly, the door opens and we move on to the next room. Here, we need to make the mirrors reflect the light; one of them is broken and the pieces are scattered across various areas – we need to find them.
Once we’ve passed through the room, we realise that the cages resemble the drawing we found. What’s going on? If we look inside the well, there’s another stone similar to the one the raven was holding. To reach it, we must fill the well, and the correct way to do this is to place the cages in the positions shown in the image – it took me ages to figure that out. I hope my character doesn’t end up like those people in those cages.
It turns out that the gems are the skeletons’ eyes, and placing them sets the mechanism for the angel’s wings in motion, which in turn activates the beams of light. If we manage to repair the mirror, we can move it so that the light reaches the various points in the room.

Inside the angel statue, we have to solve another puzzle; this one involves finding the figures in the correct positions – it was actually great fun.
Once solved, the statue opens a door from the inside and we move on to the next scene, where there are more puzzles to solve in order to keep progressing.
To be honest, it’s a bit of a dark game for me; I’m not sure if I’ll carry on playing it, but if it intrigues you and you want to know how it ends, let me know and I’ll be inspired to finish it.
Wishing you all the best, blessings.
